OFFENSE - Quarterback Lamar Jackson is back for his eighth season and last year he passed for 4,172 yards with 41 touchdowns and just four interceptions while also rushing for 915 yards (6.6 YPC) and four rushing scores. Derrick Henry (1,921 yards, 5.9 YPC and 16 touchdowns) is the main cog for the running game, which led the NFL as a team last year. Wide receivers include Zay Flowers (74 receptions, 1,059 yards, four TD), Rashod Bateman (45, 756, nine TD) and now DeAndre Hopkins, who had 56 receptions last season for 610 yards and five touchdowns while finishing the season with the Kansas City Chiefs. The tight ends are Mark Andrews, who had 55 receptions for 673 yards and eleven touchdowns and Isaiah Likely (42, 477, six TD).
DEFENSE - Linebacker Roquan Smith leads the way(154 tackles in 2024) along with fellow backers Kyle Van Noy (12 1/2 sacks) and Odafe Oweh (10 sacks) while up front, DT Nnamdi Madubuike had 6 1/2 sacks. In the secondary are safety Kyle Hamilton (107 tackles) and corners Marlon Humphrey (six interceptions), Nate Wiggins and Jaire Alexander, who had two picks with the Green Bay Packers last year. Safety Ar'Darius Washington had two picks last year.
OUTLOOK FOR 2025 - The Ravens had another solid season in 2024, winning the AFC North division and then lost to the Buffalo Bills in the divisional round of the AFC playoffs. The offense led the league in total yardage and also averaged over 30 points per game. Head Coach John Harbaugh would like to see the team make the charge this season come January and advance to the Super Bowl, where the Ravens haven't been since the 2012 season.
The defense led the NFL against the run and looks to improve against the pass in 2025 after allowing 244 yards per game, which was 31st overall last year. The Ravens did have 12 interceptions and amassed 54 QB sacks, which was second in the league. Getting past either the Chiefs or Bills in the post-season will be the goal for this team as they should win another AFC North crown, barring any major injuries to key players. If Lamar Jackson and company can get over the hump in the playoffs, this team could be in the Super Bowl and now is the time for that to happen. Execution, not excuses is what is expected.
