For the first time in 37 years, horse racing has a triple crown winner as American Pharoah won the Belmont Stakes today to complete the "triple crown" of horse racing with wins in this race along with the Preakness Stakes (three weeks ago) and the Kentucky Derby five weeks ago.The last time a horse won the triple crown was in 1978 when Affirmed did it just one year after Seattle Slew won the triple crown.
So American Pharoah ends the drought.
He's no Secretariat, but congratulations on the accomplishment.
