2025 NFL PREVIEW - Cincinnati Bengals

CINCINNATI BENGALS

2024 Record - 9-8-0

Head Coach - Zac Taylor

2024 Offensive Rank - (9th overall) - 366 YPG; Passing - 273 (1st), Rushing - 93 YPG (30th); SCORING - 27.8 PPG (6th)

2024 Defensive Rank - (25th overall) - 348 YPG; Passing -  223 YPG (21st), Rushing - 125 YPG (19th); SCORING - 25.5 PPG (25th)

Key Additions for 2025 - T.J. Slaton (DL), Shemar Stewart (rookie - Texas A & M),  Samaje Perine (RB), Lucas Patrick (OL), Noah Fant (TE)

Key Losses for 2025 - Sam Hubbard (DL), Von Bell (DB), Mike Hilton (DB), Alex Cappa (OL), Akeem Davis-Gaither (LB)

OFFENSE - Quarterback Joe Burrow once again did his thing, passing for 4,918 yards with 43 touchdowns and just nine interceptions while throwing to top targets Ja'Marr Chase, who had 127 receptions for 1,708 yards with 17 touchdowns. Wide receiver Tee Higgins (73, 911, 10 TD) is the other cog in the air attack along with Andrei Iosivas (36, 479, 6 TD) and tight end Mike Gesicki, who had 65 catches for 665 yards and two scores. Veteran tight end Noah Fant (48, 500, one TD with Seattle) is also available. Running back Chase Brown (990 yards, 4.3 YPC, 7 TD) is the primary runner for the Bengals.

DEFENSE - Defensive End Trey Hendrickson (17 1/2 QB sacks) is available again pending his contract extension dispute with the team. He leads the defense, which has work to do after a dismal 2024 season.

Safety Geno Stone (four interceptions) and cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt (three picks) along with linebacker Germaine Pratt (team leading 143 tackles and two INT) are players who get it done for the defense as well. Nose tackle T.J. Slaton comes over from Green Bay to add more depth up front, which would help out B.J. Hill (three sacks), Joseph Ossai (five sacks) and Hendrickson. The Bengals had 36 sacks and picked off 15 passes a year ago, but were in the bottom half of the NFL in points allowed.

OUTLOOK FOR 2025 - The big question for the team is whether the defense will step up in 2025 to keep them competitive as they play in the AFC North, where the Baltimore Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers were playoff teams a year ago. A quicker start this season would definitely help as they cannot afford another 1-4 start. The schedule appears to be more favorable this time around in the first eight weeks, but they have to prove it on the playing field.

Head Coach Zac Taylor is one of the coaches rumored to be on the "hot seat" if the team fails to make the playoffs for a third straight year. Barring injury, count on Burrow and company to light up the scoreboard again this season and if the defense steps up, the Bengals could be making some noise come January. They have the talent, it's just a matter of getting things going right out of the gate and maintaining consistency as the season goes along.

2025 NFL PREVIEW - Arizona Cardinals

ARIZONA CARDINALS

2024 Record - 8-9-0

Head Coach - Jonathan Gannon

2024 Offensive Rank - (11th overall) - 358 YPG; Passing - 214 YPG (18th), Rushing - 144 YPG (7th); SCORING - 23.5 PPG (12th)

2024 Defensive Rank - (21st overall) - 343 YPG; Passing - 216 YPG (14th), Rushing - 127 YPG (20th); SCORING - 22.3 PPG (15th)

Key Additions for 2025 - Josh Sweat (LB), Calais Campbell (DL), Jacoby Brissett (QB), Dalvin Tomlinson (DL)

Key Losses for 2025 - Kyzir White (LB), Trystan Colon (OL), Roy Lopez (DL)

OFFENSE - Kyler Murray is back for his seventh season as quarterback and he had 3,851 passing yards last year along with 21 touchdowns and eleven interceptions. Murray also rushed for 572 yards (7.3 YPC) and scored five touchdowns. The running game will have James Conner (1,094 yards, 4.6 YPC, 8 TD along with 47 receptions for 414 yards and one score) leading the way. The wide receiving corps has Marvin Harrison, Jr. (62 receptions, 885 yards, 8 TD), Michael Wilson (47, 548, 4 TD) and tight end Trey McBride, who had 111 receptions for 1,146 yards and two touchdowns.

DEFENSE - The Cardinals have defensive tackle Dante Stills (4 1/2 sacks) and end L.J. Collier (3 1/2 sacks) along with 18-year veteran Calais Campbell, who had five sacks last season with the Miami Dolphins. Linebacker Josh Sweat comes over this year from the Philadelphia Eagles, where he had eight sacks and will team with outside backer Zane Collins (five sacks) and Mack Wilson. The secondary has corners Sean Murphy-Bunting (three interceptions) and Garrett Williams (two INT) along with safeties Budda Baker (team leading 164 tackles) and Jalen Thompson, who had 98 tackles.

OUTLOOK FOR 2025 - The Cardinals were up and down a year ago and are looking for more steady play in 2025 with Murray and company making progress, especially with the young wide receivers. Head Coach Jonathan Gannon saw the team double their wins total in the 2024 season (from 4 to 8) and would like to see them contend for the NFC West title as it looks to be a balanced division this year.

The defense added some veterans to help bolster the pass rush, which had 41 sacks a year ago along with nine interceptions. Only four times did opponents score 30-plus points on the Cardinals as they were pretty  strong in the red zone. The key for Arizona getting back to the playoffs for the first time since 2021 will be Murray staying healthy and bringing the passing game up to speed with the rushing attack, which was solid a year ago. This team could get a wild card spot in the NFC if things click, but it would take a much bigger effort to win the division.

2025 NFL PREVIEW - Baltimore Ravens

BALTIMORE RAVENS

2024 Record - 12-5-0

Head Coach - John Harbaugh

2024 Offensive Rank - (1st overall) - 425 YPG; Passing - 237 YPG (7th), Rushing - 188 YPG (1st); SCORING - 30.5 PPG (3rd)

2024 Defensive Rank - (10th overall) - 324 YPG; Passing - 244 YPG (31st), Rushing - 80 YPG (1st); SCORING - 21.2 PPG (9th)

Key Additions for 2025 - DeAndre Hopkins (WR), Chidobe Awuzie (DB), Cooper Rush (QB), Joseph Noteboom (OL)

Key Losses for 2025 - Marcus Williams (DB), Justin Tucker (PK), Brandon Stephens (DB), Patrick Mekari (OL)

OFFENSE - Quarterback Lamar Jackson is back for his eighth season and last year he passed for 4,172 yards with 41 touchdowns and just four interceptions while also rushing for 915 yards (6.6 YPC) and four rushing scores. Derrick Henry (1,921 yards, 5.9 YPC and 16 touchdowns) is the main cog for the running game, which led the NFL as a team last year. Wide receivers include Zay Flowers (74 receptions, 1,059 yards, four TD), Rashod Bateman (45, 756, nine TD) and now DeAndre Hopkins, who had 56 receptions last season for 610 yards and five touchdowns while finishing the season with the Kansas City Chiefs. The tight ends are Mark Andrews, who had 55 receptions for 673 yards and eleven touchdowns and Isaiah Likely (42, 477, six TD).

DEFENSE - Linebacker Roquan Smith leads the way(154 tackles in 2024) along with fellow backers Kyle Van Noy (12 1/2 sacks) and Odafe Oweh (10 sacks) while up front, DT Nnamdi Madubuike had 6 1/2 sacks. In the secondary are safety Kyle Hamilton (107 tackles) and corners Marlon Humphrey (six interceptions), Nate Wiggins and Jaire Alexander, who had two picks with the Green Bay Packers last year. Safety Ar'Darius Washington had two picks last year.

OUTLOOK FOR 2025 - The Ravens had another solid season in 2024, winning the AFC North division and then lost to the Buffalo Bills in the divisional round of the AFC playoffs. The offense led the league in total yardage and also averaged over 30 points per game. Head Coach John Harbaugh would like to see the team make the charge this season come January and advance to the Super Bowl, where the Ravens haven't been since the 2012 season.

The defense led the NFL against the run and looks to improve against the pass in 2025 after allowing 244 yards per game, which was 31st overall last year. The Ravens did have 12 interceptions and amassed 54 QB sacks, which was second in the league. Getting past either the Chiefs or Bills in the post-season will be the goal for this team as they should win another AFC North crown, barring any major injuries to key players. If Lamar Jackson and company can get over the hump in the playoffs, this team could be in the Super Bowl and now is the time for that to happen. Execution, not excuses is what is expected.

2025 NFL PREVIEW - Philadelphia Eagles

PHILADELPHIA EAGLES

2024 Record - 14-3-0

Head Coach - Nick Sirianni

2024 Offensive Rank - (8th overall) - 367 YPG; Passing - 188 YPG (29th), Rushing - 179 YPG (2nd); SCORING - 27.2 PPG (7th)

2024 Defensive Rank - (1st overall) - 278 YPG; Passing - 174 YPG (1st), Rushing - 104 YPG (10th); SCORING - 17.8 PPG (2nd)

Key Additions for 2025 - Azeez Ojulari (DE/Edge rusher), Matt Pryor (OL), Kenyon Green (OL), Adoree' Jackson (DB), Sam Howell (QB)

Key Losses for 2025 - Milton Williams (DL), C.J. Gardner-Johnson (DB), Josh Sweat (LB),  Darius Slay (DB), Mekhi Becton (OL)

OFFENSE
- The Eagles won the Super Bowl last season, blowing out the Kansas City Chiefs, 40-22 and head into this season looking to keep the offense humming along with quarterback Jalen Hurts leading the way. Hurts passed for 2,903 yards with 18 touchdowns and five interceptions and rushed for 630 yards (4.2 YPC) and scored 14 touchdowns. Running back Saquon Barkley returns after a massive effort last year, going for 2,005 rushing yards (5.8 YPC) and scoring 13 touchdowns. Wide receivers A.J. Brown (67 receptions for 1,079 yards and seven TD) and DeVonta Smith (68, 833, 8 TD) and tight end Dallas Goedert (42, 496, 2 TD) provide solid targets for Hurts in the passing attack.

DEFENSE - With Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis and Nolan Smith (6 1/2 QB sacks) up front, the Eagles have a solid core to stop the run and pressure opposing quarterbacks. Linebackers Zack Baun (team high 150 tackles) and Nakobe Dean (128 tackles) along with defensive backs Reed Blankenship (78 tackles and four interceptions), Cooper DeJean and Adoree' Jackson will look to offset losing sacks leader (linebacker) Josh Sweat and also (DL) Milton Williams as well as defensive backs C.J. Gardner-Johnson and Darius Slay to maintain a top notch defense, which had 41 sacks and 13 interceptions last season.

OUTLOOK FOR 2025 - Philadelphia will look to become the first NFC East team to win consecutive division titles since they did it back in the 2004 season. In addition, the Eagles will look to avoid the "Super Bowl hangover" this year. As long as Hurts and company can keep things going on offense, they should soar again and make the playoffs. The defense lost some key players in the off-season, but the new additions will look to offset those losses. If things come together with different players and they can maintain a strong defense, there's no reason to feel the Eagles cannot make another deep playoff run.

Head Coach Nick Sirianni is no longer on the "hot seat" and would like to see the offense continue to have the balance it showed a year ago and in the red zone, where the Eagles use the (pick your nickname) "Tush Push" or "Brotherly Shove" to score touchdowns and not settle for field goals.  The Eagles are definitely one of the top teams in the NFL and another Super Bowl appearance could happen next February.

It's That Time Of The Year Again

As the calendar winds into late July and NFL teams begin ramping up and getting into high gear in training camps, Heftyinfo will once again preview all 32 teams starting next week (late July) and throughout the month of August, beginning with the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles.

This season could be one of the most unpredictable in recent memory with all the off-season roster moves and the influx of rookie players coming into the fold for the 2025 NFL season, which kicks off on Thursday, September 4th in Philadelphia when the Eagles play the Dallas Cowboys.

The 2025 NFL previews will include all 32 teams and, of course, the entire season will have a week by week preview of all the games and also recaps following all the action. The NFL playoffs will also be covered all the way through January, leading up to Super Bowl LX in February.

Stay tuned.

Republicans Are Evil

The bill that passed out of the United States Senate earlier today for the tax cuts for the corporations and richest people in the country is absolutely the worst ever financial legislation in the history of the United States of America.

In order to pay for this crap, millions of people will be without health care and children will go without food assistance just so a few people (less than one percent of the entire U.S. population) get another tax cut.

The republicans hold the majority in the U.S. Senate and the U.S. House of Representatives and this is on them.

This legislation passed and now will go back to the U.S. House where it likely will be approved and the President of the United States will sign it and then the near 4 TRILLION DOLLARS will be added to the U.S. deficit.

The evil republicans and convicted felon Donald J. Trump own this.

Period.

End of discussion.
