OFFENSE
- Sam Darnold takes over at quarterback this season and last year while with the Minnesota Vikings he had 35 touchdown passes along with 4,319 passing yards and twelve interceptions. Drew Lock will be the backup quarterback and rookie Jalen Milroe (Alabama) is also available should injuries happen. The running game has Kenneth Walker III (573 yards, 3.7 YPC and seven TD) Zach Charbonnet (569, 4.2 YPC, eight TD) and rookie Damien Martinez (Miami) will look to play as well. The wide receivers are Jaxon Smith-Njigba (100 receptions, 1,130 yards, six TD), Marquez Valdes-Scantling (19, 411, four TD with New Orleans) and Cooper Kupp, who comes over from the Los Angeles Rams and he had 67 receptions for 710 yards and six touchdowns last season. The tight ends are A.J. Barner (30, 245, four TD) and rookie Elijah Arroyo (Miami).

DEFENSE - Defensive End Leonard Williams had eleven sacks last year and he leads the front line. Jarran Reed is the nose tackle and veteran free agent defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence is on board in 2025 as well. The linebackers are Derrick Hall (eight sacks), Uchenna Nwosu, Boye Mafe (six sacks), Tyrice Knight and Ernest Jones (94 tackles). The defensive backs include safeties Coby Bryant (three interceptions) and Julian Love (team high 106 tackles and three interceptions) along with cornerbacks Devon Witherspoon (98 tackles) and Riq Woolen, who had three picks last season. Seattle had 45 sacks last year and picked off 13 passes.

OUTLOOK - It will be a revamped look for the Seahawks on offense in 2025 as Sam Darnold takes over at quarterback after a career season in Minnesota while (former starter) Geno Smith is now with the Las Vegas Raiders. The wide receiving corps has Cooper Kupp playing this year as DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett are now elsewhere. Head Coach Mike Macdonald will look for the team to build on last year's big finish, when the Seahawks went 6-2 down the stretch and just missed the playoffs.

The defense was decent last year and was in the top ten in the NFL in quarterback sacks and will look to build on that. Defending against the run better would help as well as better play in the red zone this season. The Seahawks surrendered 30-plus points four times in 2024 and gave up some big plays that cost them, especially in an overtime loss against the Los Angeles Rams that proved to be the difference in which team wound up winning the NFC West. The key for the team getting back to the playoffs again will be Sam Darnold showing he can be the quarterback he was for most of last season (with the Vikings) and not the one with the two clunker games in January. Barring injuries, the Seahawks should contend in a wide open NFC West division and could very well be back in the post-season.
