NFL - Week Eight Recap
How about the Cleveland Browns?
They surprised the Baltimore Ravens, 29-24 for the home win and improved to 2-6 and snapped the Ravens (5-3) five game win streak as quarterback Jameis Winston passed for three touchdowns and 334 yards, including a game winning 38-yard TD pass to Cedric Tillman with 59 seconds remaining. The Browns racked up 402 yards in total offense in the win. Baltimore QB Lamar Jackson had a pair of touchdown passes and RB Derrick Henry scored a rushing TD in the loss.
The Philadelphia Eagles (5-2) methodically marched up and down the field in the second half of their 37-17 blowout road win against the Cincinnati Bengals (3-5) for their third consecutive win. Eagles QB Jalen Hurts rushed for three scores and had a TD pass as well in the win while their defense got two turnovers and limited the Bengals to 280 total yards.
In Miami, the upstart Arizona Cardinals rallied from ten points down and won, 28-27 when kicker Chad Ryland drilled a 34-yard field goal at the final gun to improve to 4-4 this season. The Dolphins (2-5) led 27-18 in the final quarter following RB Raheem Mostert's second rushing touchdown. But the Cardinals rallied back behind QB Kyler Murray (307 passing yards with two TD) and RB James Conner, who scored on a two-yard run with 8:47 left to go to get Arizona to within 27-25. Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa played for the first time in over a month and had a TD pass and 234 passing yards in defeat.
The Detroit Lions (6-1) completely dominated the visiting Tennessee Titans in a 52-14 win as RB Jahmyr Gibbs had a rushing 70-yard rushing TD while RB David Montgomery also had a rushing TD and also threw a TD pass to tight end Sam LaPorta. Kalif Raymond took a punt return back 90 yards for a touchdown and also caught one of QB Jared Goff's three scoring passes. The Titans (1-6) out gained the Lions in total yardage by 416 - 225, but had four turnovers (two fumbles, two interceptions) and were blown out as they dropped their third game in a row.
The Houston Texans (6-2) survived at home against the Indianapolis Colts, 23-20 with Joe Mixon going for 102 rushing yards and a touchdown and QB D.J. Stroud throwing a TD pass along with three field goals by Ka'imi Fairbairn. The Colts dropped to 4-4 as QB Anthony Richardson had a TD pass and RB Jonathan Taylor scored a TD and had 105 rushing yards in defeat.
The Atlanta Falcons (5-3) won at Tampa Bay, 31-26 to sweep the season series and take over sole possession of first place in the NFC South division. Falcons QB Kirk Cousins tossed four TD passes with 276 passing yards to lead the attack. The Buccaneers (4-4) rallied back in the fourth quarter after falling behind 31-17, but couldn't finish the deal as QB Baker Mayfield had three TD passes along with two interceptions and 330 passing yards.
Green Bay won, 30-27 at Jacksonville when Brandon McManus made a 24-yard field goal as time expired to get to 6-2 for the year. Packers starting QB Jordan Love was injured (groin) and Malik Willis took over and had a scoring pass while running back Josh Jacobs scored twice on the ground while gaining 127 yards. The Jaguars (2-6) were led by QB Trevor Lawrence, who had a rushing score and passed for two more touchdowns and 308 yards in the loss.
The New England Patriots (2-6) snapped a six game slide with a 25-22 stunner against the listless New York Jets (2-6) as backup QB Jacoby Brissett (who came on for injured starter Drake Maye) led the final drive for the go ahead touchdown (one yard run) by RB Rhamondre Stevenson with 22 seconds left to play. Maye had a 17-yard TD run before leaving the game. Jets QB Aaron Rodgers had two TD passes in the loss, which was the fifth straight for them.
The Buffalo Bills (6-2) throttled the host Seattle Seahawks, 31-10 as QB Josh Allenhad two touchdown passes and RB James Cook rushed for 111 yards (17 carries) and scored two running touchdowns. Seattle (4-4) gained just 233 yards in offense and turned the football over two times.
In Los Angeles, the Chargers (4-3) rolled past the New Orleans Saints, 26-8 with QB Justin Herbert throwing for two touchdowns (both to WR Ladd McConkey) and J.K. Dobbins had a rushing score as well. The Saints (2-6) lost their sixth consecutive game.
On Thursday night, the Los Angeles Rams (3-4) toppled the visiting
Minnesota Vikings, 30-20 with quarterback Matthew Stafford throwing four
touchdown passes (one interception) along with 279 passing yards while
the defense sacked Vikings QB Sam Darnold three times, including one for
a safety with 1:36 left in the fourth quarter that sealed the win. The
Vikings (5-2) dropped their straight game as Darnold had a pair of
scoring passes in defeat.
The Kansas City Chiefs (7-0) stayed unbeaten as they won, 27-20 on the road against the Las Vegas Raiders (2-6) with QB Patrick Mahomes throwing two TD passes and Kareem Hunt getting a rushing score. Raiders QB Gardner Minshew had a pair of TD passes, but they managed just 33 rushing yards in the loss.
The Denver Broncos (5-3) won at home, 28-7 against the hapless Carolina Panthers (1-7) with QB Bo Nix scoring a rushing touchdown and passing for three more scores along with 284 passing yards. The Panthers had a brief 7-0 lead on the first of two TD passes by QB Bryce Young, who also threw two interceptions in defeat.
In the Sunday night game, the San Francisco 49ers scored 21 points in the third quarter and beat the visiting Dallas Cowboys, 30-24 to improve to 4-4 this season. 49ers QB Brock Purdy had a TD pass and run along with RB Isaac Guerendo adding a scoring run and three field goals by Anders Carlson to lead the way. Dallas (3-4) got a pair of scoring passes from Dak Prescott to WR CeeDee Lamb and RB Ezekiel Elliott had a touchdown run. The 49ers amassed 469 total yards in offense, including 223 rushing yards as they gained a share of first place in the NFC West.
The Monday Night Football game went to the Pittsburgh Steelers (6-2) as they won at home, 26-18 against the New York Giants (2-6) as Calvin Austin III took a punt back 73 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter to break a 9-9 tie. Austin later hauled in a 29-yard TD pass from QB Russell Wilson (278 passing yards, one TD) to make it 23-9 with 13:16 remaining in the game. The Giants got back into it when RB Tyrone Tracy, Jr. (145 rushing yards on 20 carries) ran 45 yards for a score to cut the Steelers lead to 23-15. Each team traded field goals from there to account for the final score.

NFL - Week Eight Preview
The Bears have the better defense while Washington has been scoring points like it is nobody's business with Daniels passing for 1,410 yards (75 percent completion rate) and six touchdowns along with two interceptions and also four rushing touchdowns. Williams has passed for 1,317 yards with nine TD passes and five interceptions. Look for both teams to go back and forth as Marcus Mariota did a good job filling in for Daniels last week. The Bears could pull this one out as long as the defense pressures the quarterback, perhaps forcing a couple of turnovers.
The Philadelphia Eagles (4-2) take on the resurgent Cincinnati Bengals (3-4), who have won two straight after a poor start this season. The Eagles crushed the New York Giants last week and running back Saquon Barkley had another big game and he has rushed for 658 yards this season (6.1 ypc average) and has scored six touchdowns, including five of those on the ground. The Bengals won a tight one against the Cleveland Browns last Sunday and QB Joe Burrow already has 14 TD passes along with 1,759 passing yards as his top two wideouts (Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins) have nine combined touchdowns. This game could be a high scoring affair and the Bengals should come out on top.
The Atlanta Falcons won a thriller at home against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers three weeks ago and now have a chance to get the season sweep against their NFC South rivals and sole possession of first place as both teams are 4-3 heading into the game. Falcons QB Kirk Cousins has been up and down through the first seven games (1,830 yards, ten TD, seven INT) while Bucs QB Baker Mayfield has been solid, throwing for 1,859 yards with 18 TD passes and seven interceptions. Another high scoring game between these two teams could very well happen with the Bucs possibly getting the victory this time.
On Sunday night in San Francisco, the 49ers (3-4) and their injury riddled roster take on the Dallas Cowboys (3-3), who are coming off their bye week. The 'Niners lost 28-18 against the unbeaten Kansas City Chiefs last week and lost WR Brandon Aiyuk for the season with a knee injury. Also on the injury report are running back Christian McCaffrey, who hasn't played a down this season and WR Deebo Samuel (pneumonia) and also tight end George Kittle (foot sprain).
The Cowboys' Dak Prescott has 1,602 passing yards with eight touchdowns and six picks thrown and will likely have to air it out against a 49ers defense as their running game (84 yards per game) has been below average so far this season. San Francisco QB Brock Purdy threw three picks last week and has thrown seven in seven games along with nine TD passes and 1,841 yards. This one could go down to the wire, but with so many injuries one has to like the Cowboys chances in this road game.

New Orleans (2-5) at L.A. Chargers (3-3) - Chargers let one get away last Monday on the road against Arizona while the Saints got crunched against Denver. The Chargers should win this one, but they have to get their running game back on track if they want to get the victory.
Buffalo (5-2) at Seattle (4-3) - The Bills have it rolling lately and the Seahawks snapped a three-game skid last week in impressive fashion. Toss up in this one.
Carolina (1-6) at Denver (4-3) - The Broncos should come out with the victory. The Panthers are terrible and are going back to QB Bryce Young after Andy Dalton was injured in a car wreck this week. Denver rolls!
Kansas City (6-0) at Las Vegas (2-5) - The Raiders were the last team to beat the Chiefs in a game . . . last Christmas Day. Not happening this time around. Plus the Chiefs added WR DeAndre Hopkins to their offense via trade.
N.Y. Giants (2-5) at Pittsburgh (5-2) - Steelers QB Russell Wilson shook off the rust last Sunday night and cooked up a victory with the Steelers scoring a season high 37 points. The Giants have been lousy this season.

NFL - Week Seven Recap
The Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers both won their games with late field goals to further tighten up the NFC North division race. Detroit improved to 5-1 with a 31-29 road against the Minnesota Vikings (5-1) on a 44-yard field goal by Jake Bates (pictured left) while the Packers (5-2) won, 24-22 at home against the Houston Texans (5-2) when kicker Brandon McManus drilled a 45-yard field goal as time ran out.
The Lions fell behind, 10-0 as Vikings running back Aaron Jones scored on a 34-yard run and the first of three field goals (a 57 yard effort) by Will Reichard in the first quarter. Lions quarterback Jared Goff had two touchdown passes (on 22-of-25 passing) and 280 yards while running back Jahmyr Gibbs scored two times on the ground and ran for 116 yards on 15 carries. Vikings QB Sam Darnold had a TD pass (and one interception) for 259 yards in the losing effort.
In Green Bay, the Packers and Texans went back and forth with Houston holding a 19-14 halftime edge. Texans RB Joe Mixon ran for two touchdowns and gained 115 yards on 25 carries while Packers QB Jordan Love had three TD passes and 220 passing yards along with two interceptions. The Packers defense limited Houston to just 191 total yardage in offense, including a season low 86 passing yards (on 10-of-21 passing) for C.J. Stroud.
In San Francisco, the Kansas City Chiefs emerged with a 28-18 win against the 49ers (3-4) to remain the NFL's only undefeated team at 6-0. Chiefs RB Kareem Hunt scored two rushing touchdowns and QB Patrick Mahomes and wide receiver Mecole Hardman added running scores to pace the offense. 49ers QB Brock Purdy scored twice on the ground, but was intercepted three times, including one in the end zone as the 'Niners trailed 21-12 early in the fourth quarter. 49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk left the game with a knee injury and has been ruled out for the season.
The Buffalo Bills (5-2) smashed the visiting Tennessee Titans, 34-10 as they scored 27 unanswered points in the second half with QB Josh Allen (323 passing yards) throwing as pair of TD passes while the defense forced two turnovers by the Titans (1-5) in the win.
The Washington Commanders (5-2) rolled past the visiting Carolina Panthers, 40-7 as Dante Fowler, Jr. took an interception back 67 yards for a score in the first quarter and then the offense rolled up 421 total yards as backup QB Marcus Mariota had two TD passes along with 205 passing yards in place of injured starter Jayden Daniels (ribs). The Panthers dropped to 1-6 and managed just 180 total yards in offense.
The Seattle Seahawks (4-3) snapped a three-game losing streak and topped the host Atlanta Falcons, 34-14 with RB Kenneth Walker III scoring a rushing and receiving touchdown and QB Geno Smith throwing for a pair of touchdowns while the defense forced three turnovers (two interceptions, one fumble) and scored a TD (Derick Hall on a 64 yard fumble return) as well in the easy win. The Falcons (4-3) saw their three-game winning streak snapped as QB Kirk Cousins was picked off twice in defeat.
The Philadelphia Eagles (4-2) went on the road and dominated the New York Giants, 28-3 as the defense had eight sacks limited the Giants (2-5) to a paltry 119 yards in total offense, including just 43 passing yards. The Eagles rushed for 269 yards as RB Saquon Barkley (17 carries for 176 yards) scored a touchdown while QB Jalen Hurts scored two rushing touchdowns and passed for another in the rout.
The Cincinnati Bengals (3-4) won at Cleveland, 21-14 as Charlie Jones took the opening kickoff back 100 yards for a score and QB Joe Burrow had two TD passes. The Browns (1-6) lost starting QB Deshaun Watson (Achilles injury) for the season and backup QB Jameis Winston had a TD pass to make it close in the final minute, but the onside kick wasn't successful and the Bengals got the win despite being out gained 336-223 in total yardage.
In London, the Jacksonville Jaguars (2-5) blasted the New England Patriots, 32-16 with RB Tank Bigsby scoring two rushing touchdowns and going for 118 yards (26 carries) while Parker Washington ran a punt back 96 yards for a TD and QB Trevor Lawrence had a scoring pass. The Patriots (1-6) dropped their sixth consecutive game while rookie QB Drake Maye threw for two touchdowns.
On Thursday night in New Orleans, the Denver Broncos (and former Saints Head Coach Sean Payton) celebrated a 33-10 trouncing against the Saints (2-5), who lost for the fifth straight time. The Broncos (4-3) lead 16-3 at the half and built that advantage to 33-3 as RB Javonte Williams scored two rushing touchdowns and Cody Barton took a fumble back 52 yards for another score. Saints QB Spencer Rattler was sacked six times in the blowout loss.
The Indianapolis Colts (4-3) won, 16-10 at home against the Miami Dolphins (2-4) as Matt Gay made three field goals and Tyler Goodson scored on a seven-yard run. The Dolphins had a 10-0 lead in the first half as QB Tyler Huntley threw a 10 yard scoring pass to Jonnu Smith and Jason Sanders 22-yard field goal, but were shut down the rest of the game.
The Los Angeles Rams (2-4) beat the visiting Las Vegas Raiders (2-5) in a lackluster game, 20-15 as RB Kyren Williams (76 rushing yards) scored twice on the ground and Kamren Curl scoring on a 33-yard fumble return to lead the effort. Raiders kicker Daniel Carlson made five field goals to account for all the scoring in the loss.
On Sunday night, the Pittsburgh Steelers (5-2) won the "prime time" game, 37-15 against the New York Jets (2-5) as quarterback Russell Wilson made his 2024 debut with 264 passing yards and two TD passes along with a rushing score to lead the rout. Steelers RB Najee Harris ran for 102 yards (on 21 carries) and scored a touchdown as the Steelers gained 409 total yards in offense. The Jets had a 15-6 lead in the second quarter thanks to a TD run by Breece Hall and scoring pass by QB Aaron Rodgers, who had 276 passing yards and two interceptions. But the Steelers took over from there and won the game going away.
There were two Monday Night Football games (for the third time already this season) and the visiting Baltimore Ravens (5-2) dominated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 41-31 as QB Lamar Jackson threw five touchdown passes and had 281 passing yards while RB Derrick Henry gained 169 rushing yards (on 15 carries) to help the Ravens amass 508 total yards in offense. The Bucs (4-3) led 10-0 before the onslaught by Baltimore and they totaled 481 yards in offense in the loss with QB Baker Mayfield passing for 370 yards with three TD passes and two interceptions. Both Tampa Bay wide receivers (Mike Evans - hamstring and Chris Godwin - ankle) were injured and will be out of action, including Godwin being lost for the rest of the season.
In Arizona, the host Cardinals improved to 3-4 with a 17-15 nail biting win against the Los Angeles Chargers (3-3) when kicker Chad Ryland made a 32-yard field goal as time expired. Cardinals QB Kyler Murray had a 44-yard scoring run along with a TD pass to lead the offense. The Chargers (3-3) scored all their points on field goals, including a 59-yard boot by Cameron Dicker while QB Justin Herbert passed for 349 yards in the losing effort.

Keep The Focus And VOTE
And that is to keep hammering Donald Trump and his Vice Presidential running mate J.D. Vance on the ridiculous Project 2025 plans they have for the United States of America.
This crap was written up by the "Heritage Foundation" (which should be called the HYPOCRITE Foundation) and would destroy the U.S. if it were to go into full effect should former president and convicted felon Trump win this election.
Current Vice President Kamala Harris has been brilliant on the campaign trail (along with her VP running mate Tim Walz) and lately has been showing video clips of dementia ridden Trump and his incoherent ramblings about anything and everything that DISTRACTS from Project 2025 and the fascism his campaign represents. Just last week, Kamala Harris went on Fox "News" for crying out loud and kicked ass in the set up "gotcha" question interview with Bret Baier.
You won't see Trump or Vance doing likewise on MSNBC or CNN or any other news outlet doing interviews because they don't have the guts to do so. Empty tin cans make the most noise and that is exactly what Trump and Vance are. They are both empty suits with absolutely nothing to offer the American people.
This upcoming election will dictate (pun intended for Trump and Vance's intentions should they win) which direction this country could be headed to in the future. Most Americans like real freedom and think it's a pretty damn good thing. So why elect a wannabe dictator like Trump and find out the hard way that all he cares about is himself and perhaps staying out of prison for the rest of his natural life?
The fact is Kamala Harris will work her policies for the American people, not just cater to the richest of the rich and corporations as Trump did during his four years (2017-2021) with his shit show presidency.
The Harris-Walz motto is "We are not going back" and this election offers the opportunity to move forward and not go back to the failures of Trump and his selfish and insane ways.
Vote . . . for your future and the future of millions of Americans.
Vote . . . for your children and grand children's future.
Vote . . . for truth and freedom and the rule of law and respect for it.
Vote . . . for the American way!
Vote early as many states have that going on right now.
Don't be distracted by all the polling and non stop media comments on how this is a "horse race" election and blah, blah, blah. The fact is when the vast majority of voters show up, the Democratic party wins. The Republican party has become nothing but a shill for foreign dictators and total fascism. Remember this . . . the only poll that matters is ELECTION DAY.

NFL - Week Seven Preview
Another big time game will take place in Minnesota as the undefeated Vikings (5-0) face the Detroit Lions (4-1) in a huge game between NFC North division rivals. The entire division is over .500, in fact the worst record of the four teams is 4-2 (Green Bay and Chicago) so this game takes on extra meaning even if it is only mid October.
The Chiefs have been getting by with good defense and just enough on offense to win all five games they have played. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes has admitted the offense hasn't been as good as it can be, so if and when the offense ignites to the expected level, what will that mean to opposing teams? Meanwhile, the 49ers have struggled the first six games in 2024, including divisional losses to Arizona and the Los Angeles Rams. They are coming off a pretty easy win at Seattle, so that's a positive heading into this tilt with the best team in the NFL. And remember, the Chiefs are coming off their bye week and Head Coach Andy Reid has a great history with winning the game coming off the bye.
Back to the Vikings vs. Lions game on Sunday afternoon . . . the Lions obliterated the Dallas Cowboys on the road last weekend while the Vikings had their bye week after playing over in London, England the week before (23-17 win against the New York Jets) a game in which QB Sam Darnold had perhaps his worst game this season, but the defense came up big. The Lions will be without superstar defensive end Aidan Hutchinson (broken leg) for the rest of this season, so it will be up to others in the front seven to put the pressure on Darnold in this game.
The Lions can score points and so far, the Vikings have shown the ability to put up some solid offensive numbers as well, including scoring just under 28 points per game. Detroit has been averaging 30.2 PPG this season with QB Jared Goff and company doing their thing. Look for another higher scoring game in Minnesota and the Lions squeaking by for the win.

Tennessee (1-4) at Buffalo (4-2) - The Bills should get the win in this game.
Cincinnati (2-4) at Cleveland (1-5) - All Pro running back Nick Chubb (knee injury) is back for the Browns in this one. Will it make the difference? The Bengals defense has been weak, so watch out.
Houston (5-1) at Green Bay (4-2) - Another marquee game on tap in northern Wisconsin this Sunday . . . take the visiting Texans in a close one.
Miami (2-3) at Indianapolis (3-3) - The Colts have things going good after a rough start . . . the Dolphins are treading water until QB Tua Tagovailoa (concussion protocol) is ready to get back at it.
Philadelphia (3-2) at N.Y. Giants (2-4) - Throw out the stats when these two NFC East rivals go at it on the football field, especially with Philly running back Saquon Barkley facing his old team.
Las Vegas (2-4) at L.A. Rams (1-4) - Who cares?
Carolina (1-5) at Washington (4-2) - Commanders roll in this one after losing a tight one on the road last week.
N.Y. Jets (2-4) at Pittsburgh (4-2) - The Sunday night game featuring the Steelers strong defense and Russell Wilson starting at QB while the Jets (and their good defense) will have a new weapon on offense as wide receiver Davante Adams joins his old teammate Aaron Rodgers (with Green Bay) to spark the attack. This should be a good one.
Baltimore (4-2) at Tampa Bay (4-2) - There are some folks who say this game could be a preview for the Super Bowl . . . The Ravens have the edge with a better offense.
L.A. Chargers (3-2) at Arizona (2-4) - The second of the Monday Night Football games in the desert. Chargers have been steady while the Cardinals have been up and down so far this season.

In London, the Chicago Bears (4-2) blasted the Jacksonville Jaguars, 35-16 with rookie QB Caleb Williams throwing four touchdown passes (two each to tight end Cole Kmet and wide receiver Keenan Allen) along with RB D'Andre Swift (17 carries for 91 yards) scoring on a one-yard run. The Bears defense forced two turnovers by the Jaguars (1-5) and QB Trevor Lawrence was sacked four times, but did throw two scoring passes to WR Gabe Davis in the loss.
The Green Bay Packers (4-2) throttled the visiting Arizona Cardinals, 34-13 with QB Jordan Love tossing four TD passes as they built a 24-10 halftime lead. The Cardinals (2-4) fumbled the ball away three times and QB Kyler Murray had a TD pass in defeat.
In Philadelphia, the Eagles (3-2) outlasted the Cleveland Browns, 20-16 with QB Jalen Hurts throwing two TD passes while the Philly defense had five sacks. The Browns dropped to 1-5 this season and their only touchdown came on a 50-yard return of a blocked field goal.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers improved to 4-2 this season with a 51-27 trouncing of the host New Orleans Saints (2-4), who dropped their fourth game in a row. The Buccaneers scored 27 unanswered points in the second half and QB Baker Mayfield had four TD passes (also three interceptions) along with 325 passing yards to lead the rout. New Orleans stormed back from a 17-0 deficit by scoring all 27 points in the second quarter as rookie QB Spencer Rattler (243 yards, one TD, two INT) threw for a touchdown while Alvin Kamara scored on a four-yard run and Rashid Shaheed scored on a 54 yard punt return along with two field goals.
Houston improved to 5-1 with an easy 41-21 road win against the New England Patriots (1-5) as QB C.J. Stroud threw for 192 yards and three touchdown passes while RB Joe Mixon (1-2 rushing yards) rushed for a touchdown and also caught a TD pass. The Texans put the game away midway through the final quarter when RB Dameon Pierce went 54 yards for a scoring run. Patriots rookie QB Drake Maye made his first start and had three TD passes along with two interceptions and 243 passing yards in defeat, which was the fifth in a row for the Pats.
The Indianapolis Colts (3-3) beat the host Tennessee Titans, 20-17 behind a pair of scoring passes by QB Joe Flacco, starting again in place of injured QB Anthony Richardson. Flacco's second TD pass went ten yards to WR Michael Pittman, Jr. with 7:27 remaining in the fourth quarter to decide the game. The Titans (1-4) led 17-10 after three quarters, but couldn't stop the Colts in crunch time. Titans QB Will Levis had a TD pass and RB Tony Pollard scored on a 23 yard run in the loss.
The Detroit Lions (4-1) went on the road and annihilated the Dallas Cowboys, 47-9 as their offense rolled up 492 yards and QB Jared Goff passed for 315 yards and three touchdowns. The Cowboys (3-3) had five turnovers and managed just three field goals in the loss, while only amassing 251 yards in total offense. The Lions lost All Pro defensive end Aidan Hutchinson (pictured right) to a broken leg in the second half as he sacked Dallas QB Dak Prescott and he will be out for the rest of the season.
In Denver, the Los Angeles Chargers built a 20-0 halftime lead and then held off the Broncos, 23-16 to go to 3-2 this season. Denver (3-3) mounted a furious comeback in the fourth quarter to erase the 16-point deficit in the final minute of play, but couldn't recover the onside kickoff. Chargers running back J.K. Dobbins ran for 96 yards and had a rushing touchdown while QB Justin Herbert passed for 237 yards and one touchdown in the win. Broncos rookie QB Bo Nix (216 passing yards) threw for two scores and was intercepted once and also rushed for 61 yards as the Broncos three-game win streak was snapped.
The Pittsburgh Steelers (4-2) dominated the host Las Vegas Raiders, 32-13 with QB Justin Fields scoring a pair of rushing touchdowns and RB Najee Harris also scoring a rushing TD as he went for 106 yards on 14 carries. The Raiders (2-4) took a brief 7-3 lead on Alexander Mattison's three-yard scoring run. The Steelers racked up 183 rushing yards and the defense forced three turnovers in the easy win.
The host Carolina Panthers (1-5) battled the Atlanta Falcons, but ran out of gas in the second half as they lost, 38-20. The Falcons (4-2) stayed in a first place tie with Tampa Bay in the NFC South as QB Kirk Cousins passed for 225 yards and one TD while the running back tandem of Tyler Allgeire (105 yards, one TD) and Bijan Robinson (95 yards, two TD) combined for 200 rushing yards and three touchdowns. Panthers QB Andy Dalton had two TD passes along with 221 passing yards and two interceptions in the loss.
The Sunday night game between the host New York Giants (2-4) and Cincinnati Bengals (2-4) was a yawner as the Bengals won, 17-7 with QB Joe Burrow scoring on a 47-yard run and RB Chase Brown scoring on a 30-yard run with 1:52 remaining in the fourth quarter to seal the win. The Giants lone touchdown came on a one-yard run by Tyrone Tracy, Jr. to even things up at 7-7 with 5:48 left in the third quarter.
In the Monday Night Football game, the Buffalo Bills beat the host New York Jets, 23-20 thanks in part to very windy conditions that caused three missed field goals combined by both teams, two of them by usually reliable Jets kicker Greg Zuerlein (from 43 and 32 yards out). Bills QB Josh Allen rushed for a touchdown and passed for two more scores to pace the offense as the Bills improved to 4-2 while the Jets fell to 2-4 with their third consecutive loss. Jets QB Aaron Rodgers had two TD passes along with 294 passing yards and one interception in the setback.
