Memorial Day Weekend is here ... It's Summertime!

The unofficial beginning of Summer begins with Memorial Day Weekend and who remembers where they were last year at this time?
How about ten years ago or even 20 years ago, if you are that old?
Well this year brings excitement to the city of Chicago as the Blackhawks will take on the Philadelphia Flyers in the Stanley Cup Finals beginning tonight at the United Center.
About a year ago at this time, the Hawks were being eliminated by the Detroit Red Wings in the seventh game of the Western Conference Finals.
Ten years ago, we were just beginning the new 21st century and the steroids era of baseball was in full bloom as the Memorial Day weekend came around.
Twenty years ago, the Chicago Bulls were battling the "bad boys" from Detroit in the Eastern Conference Finals of the NBA Playoffs at this time.
Historically, one year ago this Memorial Day weekend, the USA had a new President, Barack Obama, and he laid the wreath at Arlington National Cemetery.
Ten years ago, Bill Clinton was still in office and the future of America was not yet changed as the infamous election of 2000 was just getting in gear.
Twenty years ago, the 41st President, George Bush, Sr. was in the White House and he never attended the wreath ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery in his four years in office, even though he was a World War II veteran.
So, this Memorial Day Weekend, why all the fuss being raked up because President Obama isn't going to be at the cemetery for Memorial Day?
People are something else and will do anything to stir up controversy where there really isn't any at all.
So, let's just all do our best to enjoy the Memorial Day Weekend and hopefullly, the weather will be cooperating for you and yours as the festivities, whatever they are, take place.
Fire up the barbecue and enjoy the times made possible by those who served and made the ultimate sacrifice.
Memorial Day in the United States.
God Bless America.
