OFFENSE - Quarterback Sam Darnold put together a successful season in 2025, passing for 4,048 yards with 25 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. Drew Lock is the backup quarterback. Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker III left in free agency, leaving Zach Charbonnet (730 rushing yards, 4.0 YPC and 12 touchdowns) as the primary running back. Rookie Jadarian Price (Notre Dame) was the top draft pick for Seattle and will get his chances to contribute. The wide receivers are Jaxon Smith-Njigba (119 receptions for 1,793 yards and ten TD), Cooper Kupp (47, 593, two TD) and Rashid Shaheed (59, 687, two TD with both Seattle and New Orleans in 2025). The tight ends are A.J. Barner, who had 52 receptions for 519 yards and six touchdowns and Elijah Arroyo, who was limited in his rookie season with knee injuries. 

DEFENSE - The defensive front has nose tackle Jarran Reed along with Leonard Williams (seven QB sacks), Byron Murphy (seven sacks) and DeMarcus Lawrence. The linebackers are Ernest Jones IV (team high 126 tackles and also five interceptions), Drake Thomas (89 tackles), Derrick Hall and Uchenna Nwosu, who had seven sacks. In the defensive backfield are cornerbacks Devon Witherspoon and Josh Jobe and the safeties are Nick Emmanwori (81 tackles) and Julian Love. Veteran cornerback Trevon Diggs was recently signed and Terrion Arnold is another possible addition in the secondary. Also looking to provide depth in the secondary are D'Anthony Bell, Noah Igbinoghene, Rodney Thomas and rookies Julian Neal (Arkansas) and Bud Clark (TCU).  The Seahawks led the NFL in scoring defense last season, allowing just 17.2 points per game and had 47 sacks along with 18 interceptions. 

2026 SEASON OUTLOOK - The Seahawks won the Super Bowl in dominating fashion last year and the defense showed why it was one of the best in the NFL in that victory against the New England Patriots. Head Coach Mike Macdonald came on board with a reputation as a defensive guru and he would like to see more of the same as the Seahawks look to defend their title, which won't be easy playing in the NFC West along with the Los Angeles Rams and San Francisco 49ers. 

The offense finished third in the league in scoring as QB Sam Darnold played well enough with a balanced attack that saw wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba lead the NFL in receiving yardage while the running attack was in the top ten in the NFL. Running back Zach Charbonnet is looking to return from a knee injury that kept him out of the post-season and rookie RB Jadarian Price will be a key piece until Charbonnet is back as a starter. The defense was tremendous and like the offense, has ten starting players from last year returning in 2026, so that should bode well for the team. 

As long as the key players stay healthy and complacency doesn't set in, the Seahawks should be right there with the Rams and 49ers in the fight for the NFC West crown this year. All three of those teams could make the NFC playoffs yet again and if the Seahawks are going to go far in January, then Darnold and company must do their part on offense as they did in the Super Bowl run last year. The chances to repeat as Super Bowl champions is always difficult, so Seattle is in for a battle. The talent is definitely there to get it done again, so now is the time for them to go out and prove it.

OFFENSE - Quarterback Drake Maye had a huge season in his second campaign as he passed for 4,394 yards and had 31 touchdown passes along with just nine interceptions while also rushing for 450 yards (4.4 YPC) and he scored four times. Treveyon Henderson (911 rushing yards, 5.1 YPC, nine TD) and Rhamondre Stevenson (603, 4.6 YPC, seven TD) form a solid one-two punch in the backfield. The wide receivers will be led by Mack Hollins (46 receptions for 550 yards and two touchdowns), Romeo Doubs (55, 724, six TD with Green Bay) and Kayshon Boutte, who hauled in 33 receptions for 551 yards and six touchdowns. The tight end is Hunter Henry, who had 60 receptions for 768 yards and seven touchdowns last season. 

DEFENSE - Up front is nose tackle Cory Durden along with Christian Barmore and end Milton Williams, providing solid run defense that finished sixth in the NFL a year ago. The linebackers are Dre'Mont Jones, who had seven combined quarterback sacks with Tennessee and Baltimore last season and also Robert Spillane (97 tackles and two interceptions), Christian Ellis (76 tackles) and Harold Landry III, who led the team with 8 1/2 sacks. K.J. Britt and rookies Gabe Jacas (Illinois) and Namdi Obiazor (TCU) will look to add depth. The secondary has safeties Craig Woodson (75 tackles) and Kevin Byard III, who made 95 tackles and had an NFL leading seven interceptions with the Chicago Bears last year. The cornerbacks are Carlton Davis III, Marcus Jones (three picks) and Christian Gonzalez. The Patriots defense had ten interceptions last year and totaled 35 sacks while allowing just under 19 points per game. 

2026 SEASON OUTLOOK - The Patriots shocked the NFL last year by going to the Super Bowl after two successive 4-13 seasons prior and many said it was because of the easy schedule they played in the 2025 season and was the reason for their success. They only faced two teams that made the AFC playoffs a year ago and this time around it looks more challenging on the 17-game schedule, including the season opener in Seattle for a Super Bowl rematch with the defending champion Seahawks. 

Head Coach Mike Vrabel has had a pretty tumultuous off-season personally and whether or not that is a factor in 2026 remains to be seen. As for the football, the Patriots have a solid core on both offense and defense, including third year quarterback Drake Maye, who will look to keep things going in the right direction after a tremendous run in 2025. The offense was balanced last year and finished second in the NFL in scoring and brings in Romeo Doubs at wide receiver to replace Stefon Diggs (now with Washington) in the passing attack. The pass protection for Maye will need to improve as he was sacked 48 times last year and a bunch more in the post-season. 

The defense was solid and New England had a plus-3 in turnovers, though the pass rush could improve after finishing in the bottom third of the league with only 35 sacks. The red zone defense was good and when the chips were down late in games last year, the Patriots usually delivered. The Super Bowl loser hangover is always a factor, but Vrabel has the coaching experience as well as being a former player who has been there, to help this team keep their focus. The Patriots will most likely battle the Buffalo Bills for the AFC East title again and if they make the playoffs, they can go far. Only this time around, they will have the targets on their collective backs as other teams will not be taken by surprise as the season goes along.

OFFENSE - Tyler Shough will be the starting quarterback and in his rookie season he had 2,384 passing yards with ten touchdowns and six interceptions. Spencer Rattler backs him up and in 2025 he had 1,586 passing yards with eight touchdowns and five interceptions. Travis Etienne, Jr. will be the running back after five seasons with Jacksonville. In 2025, Etienne rushed for 1,107 yards (4.3 YPC) and scored seven touchdowns. Alvin Kamara missed six games last season, but led the Saints with 471 rushing yards (3.6 YPC) and scored one touchdown and also had 33 receptions for 186 yards. Devin Neal had 206 rushing yards (3.6 YPC) and two touchdowns. Chris Olave leads the wide receivers and he made 100 receptions for 1,163 yards and nine touchdowns last season. Also contributing will be Devaughn Vele (25, 293, two TD), rookie Jordyn Tyson (Arizona State), Trey Palmer and tight ends Juwan Johnson (77, 889, three TD) and Noah Fant. 

DEFENSE - Edge rushers Cameron Jordan (10 1/2 QB sacks) and Chase Young (ten sacks) lead the way on the line along with Bryan Breese (2 1/2 sacks), Nathan Shepherd and Davon Godchaux. The linebackers are Kaden Elliss (107 tackles with Atlanta), Carl Granderson (six sacks) and Pete Werner (81 tackles) and the secondary features safeties Justin Reid, Julian Blackmon and Jonas Sanker, who had two picks last season. The cornerbacks are Quincy Riley, Kool-Aid McKinstry (three interceptions) and rookie T.J. Hall (Iowa). The Saints had 45 quarterback sacks last year and ten interceptions while ranking ninth in total defense while allowing 22.5 points per game. 

2026 SEASON OUTLOOK - After a rough 1-8 start last year, the Saints finished strong, going 5-3 which included a four-game win streak in December with rookie Tyler Shough starting at quarterback. Head Coach Kellen Moore is looking for the team to continue the momentum this season and compete for the NFC South title, which Carolina won last year with a losing record. 

Shough did a good job and showed leadership as the starter and now has two running backs to go with a top notch wide receiver in Chris Olave. The team didn't re-sign Taysom Hill, who for nine seasons provided the team with rushing and receiving skills that kept opponents off guard. A bounce back season from running back Alvin Kamara would be a big boost after he dealt with a knee sprain last season that dropped his numbers. The defense was good, especially against the pass (4th in NFL) and the Saints were in the top ten with 45 sacks. Getting more turnovers would help (minus-4 in that category in 2025) and the team is replacing two starters from a year ago in the back seven on defense. 

The Saints haven't made the playoffs in six years (Hall-of-Fame quarterback Drew Brees last season) so they are hungry to get back after a late season surge showed they have life. Getting off to a better start in 2026 would be huge and on paper it looks doable after the first two games (on the road against Detroit and Baltimore) as they play five teams that had losing records last year and their bye comes after a game in Paris, France against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Saints could very well win the NFC South and make the playoffs. The key this year will be how much progress QB Tyler Shough can make after showing good play in the second half last season.

OFFENSE - Trevor Lawrence is the starting quarterback after another big season, where he had 4,007 passing yards with 29 touchdowns and twelve interceptions and also rushed for 359 yards (4.4 YPC) and scored nine touchdowns. The running game will have a new lead running back in 2026 as Travis Etienne, Jr. left in the off-season. Bhayshul Tuten (307 rushing yards, 3.7 YPC, five TD) and Chris Rodriguez, Jr., who had 500 yards rushing (4.5 YPC) and six touchdowns with Washington last season. The wide receivers are Jakobi Meyers (75 receptions, 835 yards, three touchdowns) and Parker Washington, who made 58 catches for 847yards and five touchdowns. Two-way player Travis Hunter had 28 receptions for 298 yards and one score as a wide receiver. Brian Thomas, Jr. had 48 receptions for 707 yards and two scores while tight end Brenton Strange had 46 grabs for 540 yards with three touchdowns. Top rookie draft pick Nate Boerkircher will to contribute at tight end as well. 

DEFENSE - Arik Armstead (5 1/2 QB sacks),  Ruke Orhorhoro, Josh Hines-Allen (eight sacks), DaVon Hamilton and Travon Walker (3 1/2 sacks) form the defensive front. The linebackers are Ventrell Miller, Foyesade Oluokun and Dennis Gardeck. The defensive backs include cornerbacks Jarrien Jones (three interceptions), Montaric Brown and Travis Hunter, who also doubles up at wide receiver for the Jaguars. Hunter missed ten games in his rookie season due to knee injuries. The safeties are Antoine Johnson, who had five picks last year and Caleb Ransaw. Keith Taylor, Jr., Jourdan Lewis and rookie Jalen Huskey (Maryland) add depth. The Jaguars finished eleventh in overall defense last season and allowed 19.8 points per game while topping the NFL against the run. They had a plus-13 in turnover rate (3rd in NFL) and picked off 22 passes (2nd) while getting 32 quarterback sacks. 

2026 SEASON OUTLOOK - After two successive step back seasons, the Jaguars leaped to the top of the AFC South division last year and then lost a nail biter game to Buffalo in the wild card round of the AFC playoffs. Head Coach Liam Coen was the runner up for the NFL Coach of the Year as the team won 13 games in his first year at the helm and he has a knack for the saying and doing the unexpected that helps keep the team loose. 

With Trevor Lawrence finally showing consistency at quarterback, the Jaguars scored a lot of points and ranked sixth in the league in that area in 2025. More of that would go a long way to getting this team back to the playoffs and perhaps making a deep run this time around after a one-and-done appearance last year. The passing game is good and it will be a transition in 2026 with the rushing attack as their top back (Travis Etienne) left for New Orleans in free agency, leaving a tandem of running backs to keep things going and maintain balance on the offense. The defense was solid a year ago and should continue to be so as long as injuries don't take a toll. A better pass rush would help as the team ranked 27th in sacks. The Jags do get turnovers though and that helps flip the field for the offense, which took advantage of that last year. 

Jacksonville has big expectations for the upcoming NFL season and it would be a disappointment if they fail to reach the playoffs. The main foe for them in the AFC South is the Houston Texans, but Indianapolis is looking to bounce back after injuries to key players ruined their 2025 season, so the Jags can take nothing for granted this year. The playoffs look to be in the big picture in 2026 and how far the Jaguars can go will depend on Lawrence and the offense making the plays and the defense getting the big stops in crunch time. The Super Bowl isn't out of the question, but they will have to work hard to make it a reality.

OFFENSE - Baker Mayfield is entering his fourth season as the Buccaneers quarterback and he had 3,693 passing yards with 26 touchdowns and eleven interceptions last year. Mayfield also rushed for 382 yards (6.9 YPC) and scored one touchdown. Jake Browning is looking to be the backup after leaving Cincinnati. The running game features Bucky Irving (588 rushing yards, 3.4 YPC, one TD) and Kenneth Gainwell, who went for 537 rushing yards with Pittsburgh last year, averaging 4.7 YPC and scored five touchdowns and he also had 73 receptions for 486 yards and three scores. The wide receivers are Emeka Egbuka (63 receptions, 938 yards, six TD), Jalen McMillan (12 receptions, 178 yards in only four games), David Sills (18, 191, two TD with Atlanta) and Chris Godwin, Jr., who is looking to return after ankle injuries that limited him to nine games in 2025, where had 33 receptions for 360 yards and two touchdowns. The tight end is Cade Otton, who had 59 receptions for 572 yards and one touchdown. 

DEFENSE - Nose tackle Vita Vea (4 1/2 QB sacks) leads the way on the front line along with Calijah Kancey and A'Shawn Robinson (2 1/2 sacks with Carolina Panthers) as well as Elijah Roberts, Al-Quadin Muhammad, who had eleven sacks with Detroit last year and rookie DeMonte Capehart (Clemson). The linebackers are Yaya Diaby (seven sacks), SirVocea Dennis (100 tackles), Alex Anzalone (95 tackles with Detroit), Christian Rozeboom (122 tackles with Carolina) and rookies Rueben Bain, Jr. (Miami, FL) and Josiah Trotter (Missouri). The secondary has safeties Antoine Winfield, Jr. (two interceptions) and Tykee Smith, who made 100 tackles and the cornerbacks are Jacob Parrish (two INT) and Zyon McCollum. The Buccaneers defense finished 19th overall last year and totaled 37 sacks and had 13 interceptions. 

2026 SEASON OUTLOOK - The Buccaneers stumbled badly down the stretch last year, losing four of the final five games to miss the playoffs. All of those losses were one-score games, so Head Coach Todd Bowles will be looking for the team to improve at finishing games. Bowles has been one of a number of NFL head coaches rumored to be on the "hot seat" entering this season, especially following the late collapse last season. 

The offense was middle of the pack in 2025, ranking 21st overall and 17th in scoring (22.4 PPG) and Baker Mayfield is entering the last year of his current contract and wants to focus on the playing field. The team saw longtime leading wide receiver Mike Evans leave for San Francisco this season, so the Bucs will hope for more good things from second year wideout Emeka Egbuka and also Jalen McMillan, who is coming back after neck injuries forced him to miss 13 games last season. The rushing attack will see Kenneth Gainwell teaming up with Bucky Irving this season as they look to improve on a 21st ranked running game. The defense was solid against the run a year ago and with Vita Vea at nose tackle, that should continue, especially with A'Shawn Robinson, another run stuffer, now playing up front as well. The pass defense was found wanting a year ago, allowing 238 yards per game and getting burned for big plays more frequently than in past seasons. 

The Buccaneers must be better in the fourth quarter in 2026 as they lost four tight games in December last season and that cost them the NFC South division crown they held for four straight years. The pieces are in place for the Bucs to get back to the playoffs again, but it won't be easy against Atlanta, New Orleans and defending division champion Carolina lurking. As long as Mayfield stays healthy and the new players on offense and defense contribute, Tampa Bay should be right there in late December battling for the division title.

OFFENSE - The quarterback position looks to be in the hands of Deshaun Watson, who hasn't played much since signing with the Browns four years ago, due to Achilles injuries and shoulder injuries. Second year QB Shedeur Sanders had 1,400 passing yards in eight games last season with seven touchdowns and ten interceptions. He also rushed for 169 yards (8.0 YPC) and one touchdown. Dillon Gabriel (937 passing yards, seven TD, two INT in ten games) is another option at quarterback. The running backs are Quinshon Jenkins, who led the team with 827 rushing yards (3.6 YPC) and seven touchdowns last year, and Dylan Sampson (175, 2.7 YPC), Raheim Sanders and fullback Michael Burton. Jerry Jeudy (50 receptions, 602 yards, two TD) and tight end Harold Fannin, Jr. (72, 731, six TD) lead the receiving corps. Isaiah Bond (18, 338), Cedric Tillman and Tylan Wallace are others looking to contribute along with KC Concepcion, a highly touted rookie from Texas A&M. 

DEFENSE - All-Pro defensive end Myles Garrett was traded to the Los Angeles Rams in the off-season and in return the Browns have Jared Verse, who had 7 1/2 quarterback sacks last season. Mason Graham, Maliek Collins (6 1/2 sacks) and Alex Wright (5 1/2 sacks) round out the defensive front.The linebackers are Carson Schwesinger (team leading 146 tackles, two interceptions), Quincy Williams (82 tackles with N.Y. Jets) and Winston Reid, who missed all of last year with back injuries. In the secondary are cornerbacks Denzel Ward and Tyson Campbell. The safeties include Ronnie Hickman, Jr. (100 tackles, two INT), Grant Delpit and Emmanuel McNeil-Warren. Cleveland was fourth overall in total defense last season and they had 53 sacks, with (former DE) Garrett getting 23 of them to set a new NFL single season record. 

2026 SEASON OUTLOOK - It's a new day in Cleveland as the Browns have Todd Monken as their new head coach and he brings a new approach on offense and would like to see the team get the running game going after averaging just 97 yards per game a year ago. Whether or not Deshaun Watson or Shedeur Sanders is the answer at quarterback remains to be seen, but the Browns offense must improve overall after finishing 31st in the NFL in scoring with only 16.4 points per game last season. 

The defense helped carry the team to five wins in 2025 and should be solid yet again even with Myles Garrett no longer leading the way on the line. The defensive backfield is among the best in the NFL, ranking third against the pass in 2025 and the team had eleven interceptions. Denzel Ward is a true shut down type of cornerback and the linebackers get after people. The Browns lost six games by one score a year ago, so they were in a lot of games and if the offense can score more on a regular basis in 2026, perhaps this team could surprise their opponents. 

The AFC North has three good opponents the Browns need to overcome, but they were 2-4 in division play and two of the losses were one score games. The playoffs are a long shot, but in the topsy turvy nature of the modern day NFL, no one should be that surprised if this team can make a run in the AFC playoff picture this year. One thing for sure, the Browns will look more like a team on the rise for the first time in nearly four years.

OFFENSE - Quarterback Brock Purdy missed half of the 2025 season (turf toe injuries), but still had 20 touchdown passes and ten interceptions along with 2,167 passing yards while also scoring three rushing touchdowns and averaging 4.5 yards per carry. Mac Jones is a capable backup quarterback and he had 2,151 passing yards with 13 TD passes and six interceptions. The top player on offense is running back Christian McCaffrey, who bounced back strong in 2025 after injuries in 2024 limited him to only four games. McCaffrey rushed for 1,202 yards (3.9 YPC) and scored ten touchdowns and also had 102 receptions for 924 yards and seven touchdowns. Jordan James and rookie Kaelon Black (Indiana) will look to spell McCaffrey in the backfield. The wide receiving corps is led by tight end George Kittle, who had 57 receptions for 628 yards and seven touchdowns in eleven games. The 49ers top two receiving leaders in 2025 with Kittle both left in the off-season, so this year former All-Pro wideout Mike Evans comes on board and he had 30 receptions for 368 yards and three touchdowns in eight games with Tampa Bay. Deebo Samuel returns to the Bay Area after a year in Washington, where he made 72 receptions for 727 yards and five touchdowns. Christian Kirk and DeMarcus Robinson are also on hand this year. 

DEFENSE - On the front line are Osa Odighizuma (3 1/2 QB sacks with Dallas), Alfred Collins, Mykel Williams, Sam Okuayinonu (three sacks) and Nick Bosa, who went out for the season early last year (knee surgery) playing in just three games. The linebackers are Dre Greenlaw, Luke Gifford, Tatum Bethune (91 tackles) and former All-Pro Fred Warner, who missed eleven games in 2025 with an ankle injury. The defensive backs are Ji'Ayir Brown (two interceptions), Malik Mustapha, Deommodore Lenior (two INT), Upton Stout (82 tackles), Renardo Green, Jack Jones (77 tackles with Miami) and Nate Hobbs. The 49ers finished the 2025 season with only six interceptions and 20 sacks, which was last in the NFL. 

2026 SEASON OUTLOOK - Injuries really took a toll on both sides of the football last year in San Francisco and the 49ers still made the playoffs and advanced to the divisional round while playing in the NFC West, which was the best division in pro football with the Los Angeles Rams and Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks dominating. And so far in training camp this year, it has been rough as Head Coach Kyle Shanahan was injured in a bad car accident and he is recovering while overseeing things and also wide receiver Ricky Pearsall, Jr. is out for the season following knee surgery. 

The 49ers have a very deep roster and as long as Brock Purdy is ready to go at quarterback, the offense is in good hands, especially with a weapon like running back Christian McCaffrey, who was outstanding again last year. Deebo Samuel returns to the team after a season with Washington and he will be a featured receiver in the passing attack. San Francisco led the NFL in third down conversion rate (49.8 percent) last season. The 49ers have good balance as well and the offensive line allowed just 27 sacks, which is a good thing. With all the injuries last season, the defense slipped in the numbers game, finishing 20th overall and in the bottom third against the pass, but played well enough to rank in the top half of the NFL in scoring defense. 

The playoffs are expected once again for the 49ers, but it would be a hard effort to duplicate what they did last year if the injuries pile up as they did a year ago. The defense should be much better in 2026 with Bosa and Warner back in the mix as both have been All-Pro players throughout their careers. Look for this team to compete with both the Rams and Seahawks in the NFC West race and who knows what can happen. If the breaks go the way of the 49ers, they could very well make their way back to the Super Bowl for the first time since the 2023 season.

OFFENSE - Cam Ward is in his second NFL season at quarterback after passing for 3,169 yards with 15 touchdowns and seven interceptions in 2025 and he also rushed for 159 yards (4.1 YPC) and scored two touchdowns. Veteran Mitch Trubisky and Will Levis are in training camp looking to be the backup quarterback. The running game features Tony Pollard, who is coming off rushing for 1,082 yards last year with a 4.5 YPC and he scored five touchdowns. Tyjae Spears (283, 3.9 YPC, two TD) and Michael Carter (333, 3.6, one TD with Arizona) are also on hand. The wide receivers are Elic Ayomanor (41 receptions, 515 yards, four TD), Wan'Dale Robinson (92, 1,014, four TD with N.Y. Giants), Chimere Dike (48, 423, four TD), Calvin Ridley (17, 303) and highly touted rookie Carnell Tate (Ohio State), who was the number four overall pick in the 2026 NFL draft. The tight end is Gunnar Helm, who had 44 receptions for 357 yards and two touchdowns. 

DEFENSE - Jeffrey Simmons (eleven QB sacks) leads the defense on the line along with John Franklin-Myers, who had 7 1/2 sacks with the Denver Broncos last season. Jacob Martin (95 tackles, 5 1/2 sacks with Washington), Oluwafemi Oladejo and edge rusher/linebacker Jermaine Johnson II and Jordan Elliott are also looking to start up front. The linebackers include Cody Barton (81 tackles, three interceptions), Cedric Gray (team leading 160 tackles), Mohamoud Diabate and rookie Anthony Hill, Jr. (Texas). The secondary has Cor'Dale Flott and Alontae Taylor at the cornerback positions and Amani Hooker (81 tackles) and Kevin Winston, Jr. at safety. Adding depth for the Titans will be Tony Adams, Sanoussi Kane and Joshua Williams. The Titans sacked opposing quarterbacks 42 times last season and picked off six passes and they gave up 28 points per game. 

2026 SEASON OUTLOOK - New Head Coach Robert Saleh will be in his second go round as the top man on the sidelines and he will be looking to get this team back on track after a terrible 2025 season that saw the Titans go 0-6 against their AFC South divisional foes and they were outscored 186-61 in those losses. Saleh had a rather forgettable tenure as head coach with the New York Jets a few years ago and brings with him a defensive mindset to help the Titans get out of the cellar after two consecutive 3-14 finishes. 

The offense lacked fire power a year ago (finishing 31st overall and 30th in scoring) and second year quarterback Cam Ward was sacked 56 times. The Titans brought in new skill players at wide receiver to help Ward in the passing game. Wan'Dale Robinson had a big year with the New York Giants in 2025 and he is looking to be the top man at the wide receiver position along with rookie Carnell Tate, who could be a star wideout as long as he lives up to the billing. The rushing attack needs to step it up as well and Tony Pollard will look to do his part after going for over 1,000 yards last season. The defense needs work, especially against the pass and as many as ten new players are in camp this season to help the effort. 

With their fourth head coach since 2023, it will no doubt be a rebuilding year for the Titans, but they will look to compete in the AFC South after getting crushed last year and try to improve on their win-loss record, which hasn't topped three victories since the 2023 campaign. The schedule doesn't appear to be as rugged as last year when they faced eight teams that made the playoffs, including both Super Bowl participants. Topping three victories would be a plus and it could happen as long as things come together with the new approach. Anything better than that will be icing on the cake as the team looks to the future for success.

OFFENSE - Quarterback Jared Goff had another big season in 2025, throwing for 34 touchdowns and only eight interceptions along with 4,564 passing yards while the Lions ranked fifth in total offense. The running game will feature Jahmyr Gibbs, who rushed for 1,223 yards (5.0 YPC) and scored 13 touchdowns and he also had 77 receptions for 616 yards and five touchdowns. Fellow backfield mate David Montgomery left for the Houston Texans in the off-season, so Isiah Pacheco is in Detroit this season after rushing for 469 yards (3.9 YPC) and one score with Kansas City. Sione Vaki could be another option in the rushing attack as well. The Lions boast two 1,000-yard wide receivers with Amon-Ra St. Brown (117 receptions for 1,401 yards and 11 touchdowns) and Jameson Williams, who had 65 receptions for 1,117 yards and seven touchdowns. Tight End Sam LaPorta had 40 catches for 489 yards and three scores. 

DEFENSE - Defensive End Aidan Hutchinson (14 1/2 QB sacks) leads the defensive front along with D.J. Wonnum, Tyleik Williams and Alim McNeill. Jay Tufele and rookie Derrick Moore (Michigan) add depth on the line. The linebackers are Jack Campbell (team high 166 tackles, including five sacks), free agent signee Devin White (174  tackles, 2 1/2 sacks, one interception with Las Vegas), Derrick Barnes and Malcolm Rodriguez. In the secondary is safety Kirby Joseph, who had thee interceptions and Brian Branch (75 tackles) along with cornerbacks D.J. Reed, Jr. (two picks), Nick Whiteside II and Rock Ya-Sin. Ten-year veteran safety Chuck Clark comes over from Pittsburgh in 2026 to provide depth. Also in the mix is corner man Ennis Rackestraw, Jr, who is coming off injuries that forced him to miss the entire 2025 season. The Lions finished 18th in total defense a year ago and had 49 sacks (4th in NFL) while getting 13 interceptions and allowed 24.3 points per game.

2026 SEASON OUTLOOK - After two big seasons that saw them win the NFC North division and advance to the NFC Championship game following the 2023 season, the Lions dropped to last place in the division, even though they finished with a winning record. Head Coach Dan Campbell is eager to see the team rebound in 2026 and get back to the playoffs. 

Four losses in the final six games derailed the Lions express as injuries and breakdowns on both offense and defense cost them games against the L.A. Rams, Pittsburgh and the Minnesota Vikings in three straight games in December that knocked them out of playoff contention. With the key players on the field, the offense should be able to roll up points on the scoreboard again and Goff has shown he isn't slowing down as he enters his 11th season in the NFL and sixth with the Lions. The offense is balanced and the tandem of Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams at wide receiver, along with dynamic running back Jahmyr Gibbs, makes this offense explosive and able to score at any time.

As long as the defense is capable of getting back to the form they showed a few years ago, the Lions should be in business in the NFC North race. Having Aidan Hutchinson healthy makes a big difference and with linebacker Devin White now included, the defense should be stronger this season. Winning within the division is crucial as always (Detroit was 2-4 vs. division foes last season) and three road games against all three NFC North opponents in the final four games this year will likely go a long way in determining whether or not the Lions return to the top of the NFC North mountain. The playoffs are legitimate for this team and then they have to show they can get it done or else critics will say the Lions have missed their opportunity for a first ever Super Bowl appearance. After all, the window stays open for only so long.

OFFENSE - Josh Allen returns at quarterback after passing for 3,668 yards a year ago with 25 touchdowns and ten interceptions along with 579 rushing yards (5.2 YPC) and scoring 14 touchdowns. Running back James Cook led the NFL in rushing as he piled up 1,621 yards (5.2 YPC) and scored twelve rushing touchdowns. Ray Davis had 275 rushing yards as the backup. The wide receiving corps will have former Bears player DJ Moore this season and he had 50 receptions for 682 yards and six touchdowns last year. Also in the fold are Khalil Shakir (72, 719, four TD), Joshua Palmer (22, 303) and Keon Coleman. The tight ends are Dalton Kincaid (39, 571, five TD) and Dawson Knox, who had 36 receptions for 417 yards and four touchdowns. 

DEFENSE - Ed Oliver, T.J. Sanders and Deone Walker are the top linemen and the linebackers are Greg Rousseau (seven QB sacks), Terrel Bernard (65 tackles), Dorian Williams and Bradley Chubb, who had 8 1/2 sacks with the Miami Dolphins last year. T.J. Parker (rookie from Clemson) will look to get time as the edge rusher as well. The secondary has safeties Cole Bishop (85 tackles, three interceptions) and C.J. Gardner-Johnson (two interceptions with Chicago last season) and cornerbacks Christian Benford (two INT), Dee Alford (three interceptions with Atlanta) and Maxwell Hairston, who had two picks as well. Geno Stone, who had 104 tackles and two picks with Cincinnati, comes over this season to play safety and Damar Hamlin is another safety. Buffalo led the NFL in pass defense in 2025 and they allowed 21.5 points per game while getting 36 sacks and 13 interceptions. 

2026 SEASON OUTLOOK - There is a new head coach in Buffalo this year as Joe Brady takes over after Sean McDermott was fired after nine seasons that saw the Bills get close to a Super Bowl appearance several times, but they couldn't quite get there. Brady was the play caller on offense for the Bills and he will continue to do that and quarterback Josh Allen is the man the offense centers around. Allen is a two-way threat and will be looking to atone for the rough playoff game he had (four turnovers) as the Bills lost to Denver in the AFC divisional round last January. 

The offense has been one of the best in the NFL in recent years and barring injuries, should continue to be that way this season as James Cook is coming off a huge season at running back and Allen adds to the rushing numbers as well for the team, which led the league in rushing last year. On board to help Allen in the passing game is DJ Moore at wide receiver and he will be alongside  Khalil Shakir and Joshua Palmer to help improve the passing attack, which slipped to the middle of the pack in 2025 and Allen was sacked 40 times, up by more than double from two years ago. On defense, the Bills will look to have the ball hawking, hands off approach from last year, when they allowed just 157 yards per game. The run defense was gashed for 136 yards (28th in the NFL), so there is a need for improvement there. 

The Bills were knocked off their perch atop the AFC East last season as the New England Patriots came out of nowhere to win the division title and also reach the Super Bowl. But the Bills have vowed to come back this season and not only win the AFC East for the sixth time in seven years, but finally get to the Super Bowl once the playoffs roll around in January. As long as Allen and Cook are on the field and doing their thing, the offense should be among the best in the league. The defense would benefit by forcing more turnovers and getting better pressure on the opposing quarterbacks while also maintaining the solid pass coverage and improve at stopping the run. This team is primed for another successful season, and should they get back to the playoffs, no more excuses as it is by far time for them to finally get to the Super Bowl.

OFFENSE - Bryce Young is entering his fourth season at quarterback and he finished with 3,011 passing yards along with 23 touchdowns and eleven interceptions in 2025. Young also rushed for 216 yards (4.0 YPC) and scored two times. Kenny Pickett and Haynes King will likely be the backups this season. The running game will be led by Chuba Hubbard (511 yards, 3.8 YPC, one TD) after Rico Dowdle left in free agency. A.J. Dillon and Trevor Etienne are also on hand. The wide receivers are Tetairoa McMillan (70 receptions, 1,014 yards, seven TD), Jalen Coker (33, 394, three TD), Xavier Legette (35, 363, three TD) and rookie Chris Brazzell II (Tennessee). The tight ends are Tommy Tremble and Mitchell Evans. 

DEFENSE - Bobby Brown III, Derrick Brown and Turk Wharton man the front line and the linebackers are Devin Lloyd (74 tackles, five interceptions with Jacksonville), Jaelan Phillips (five sacks totaled with Philadelphia and Miami in 2025), Nic Scourton and Trevin Wallace. In the secondary is safety Nick Scott (109 tackles) along with Tre'von Moehrig, Jr. (103 tackles) and cornerbacks Jaycee Horn, who had five interceptions and also Mike Jackson, who had four picks last season. Robert Rochell, rookie Zakee Wheatley (Penn State) and Lathan Ransom add depth. The Panthers totaled 15 interceptions and 30 sacks a year ago and the defense finished in the middle of the pack while allowing 22.4 points per game. 

2026 SEASON OUTLOOK - The Panthers surprised many by making the playoffs last season, although they won the NFC South division with a losing record. But they battled the L.A. Rams tough in the wild card round, losing 34-31 on their home field. Head Coach Dave Canales would like to see the team improve on that performance in what could be the most competitive division in the NFL. 

If Young continues to make strides at quarterback and the running game can show improvement, the offense should be better than last year, where the Panthers ranked 27th overall and averaged just 18.3 points per game. Turnovers must be managed as well where the team was minus-2 in that area. The defense was decent enough to keep the team in games and only twice all season allowed over 30 points in a game. Playing in the NFC South sees Atlanta, New Orleans and Tampa Bay in the mix and three teams all finished 8-9 while the New Orleans Saints were just two games behind. There wasn't a lot of player turnover on the roster, so the Panthers should be able to get things going early on this year. They will not be sneaking up on opponents this time, so they better be ready to pick up where they left off last season because it will likely take more than eight wins to make the playoffs.

OFFENSE - Quarterback Joe Burrow enters his seventh NFL season and is coming back from injuries last season that limited him to just eight games, as he had 1,809 passing yards with 17 touchdowns and five interceptions. Ageless Joe Flacco is the backup and in his 18th season, he passed for 2,479 yards with 15 touchdowns and ten interceptions. Chase Brown is the primary running back, going for 1,019 yards last year (4.4 YPC) and he scored six touchdowns in addition to getting 69 receptions for 437 yards and five touchdowns. Samaje Perine (382, 4.5 YPC, three TD) is the other half of the running attack. The wide receivers are two of the best in the NFL as Ja'Marr Chase (125 receptions, 1,412 yards, eight TD) and Tee Higgins (59, 846, eleven TD) give the Bengals a solid tandem in the passing game. Andrei Iosivis and tight end Mike Gesicki (28, 307, two TD) are the other main targets in the passing game. 

DEFENSE - The Bengals revamped up front and have Dexter Lawrence (acquired from New York Giants) at nose tackle along with Jonathan Allen (free agent signee from Minnesota Vikings), Myles Murphy (5 1/2 QB sacks), Boye Mafe and rookie edge rusher Cashius Howell (Texas A&M). Barrett Carter and Demetrius Knight, Jr. (106 tackles, two INT) lead the linebacking corps and the defensive backfield has safeties Jordan Battle (112 tackles, four interceptions), Kyle Dugger and Bryan Cook. The cornerbacks include Dax Hill, DJ Turner II (two picks) and nickel back Jalen Davis. Cincinnati's defense had 35 sacks a year ago and picked off 13 passes, but allowed just under 29 points per game, which was 30th in the league. 

2026 SEASON OUTLOOK - Defense, defense, defense is the name of the game as the Bengals prepare for the upcoming season. In 2025, they had one of the worst units in the NFL, allowing close to 400 yards per game while ranking last against the run, giving up 147 yards per game. Opponents torched the Bengals for too many big plays as they allowed 30-plus points seven times last year. Head Coach Zac Taylor is yet again on that proverbial "hot seat" entering the new season, but it's hard to blame him for Joe Burrow being injured so often. As long as Burrow is upright and able to go on game day, this team has a chance to win. 

The offense is a machine with Burrow under center, especially with a great duo (Chase and Higgins) at wide receiver. Chase Brown does a good job running the football and the offensive line is adequate in pass protection, giving up 36 sacks last season. The defense will tell the story as well as Burrow remaining injury free in 2026 in regards to any success this team will have. The Bengals brought in no less than six new faces along with top draft pick Cashius Howell, who comes in highly regarded from Texas A&M to improve their porous defense. With better pressure on enemy quarterbacks and a run stuffer like Lawrence up front, the hope is the defense keeps opponents scoring down. If the defense can step up and Burrow and his gang do their thing, this team will compete for the AFC North crown and who knows what else can happen when the playoffs come around. 

The Bengals can score points, so it's just a matter of being able to outscore the other team and that is where the defense, with a new look, hopes things will be better this season. Bengals fans (and Zac Taylor) are counting on it.

OFFENSE - Veteran Jacoby Brissett is the quarterback and he threw for 23 touchdowns with eight interceptions last season as well as 3,366 passing yards. Carson Beck (rookie from Miami, FL) and Gardner Minshew II will be the backups. Jeremiyah Love (Notre Dame) is the top draft pick for the Cardinals and he will carry the load in the running game. James Conner, who had back-to-back 1,000 yard rushing seasons prior to 2025, is looking to bounce back after suffering a foot injury that required surgery and ended his season after three games. Tyler Allgeier (514 yards, 3.6 YPC, eight TD with Atlanta) and Trey Benson will be available as well. The wide receivers include Marvin Harrison, Jr. (41 receptions, 608 yards, four TD), Michael Wilson (78, 1,006, seven TD) and Kendrick Bourne, who comes over from San Francisco where had 37 catches for 551 yards last year. The tight ends are Trey McBride, who had 126 receptions for 1,239 yards and eleven touchdowns and Elijah Higgins, who had 30 receptions for 301 yards.

DEFENSE - Linebacker Josh Sweat is the leader on defense and he had twelve quarterback sacks last season. Along with Sweat are linebackers Cody Simon, Mack Wilson, Sr., Barron Browning (two sacks) and Zaven Collins. The defensive front includes nose tackle Roy Lopez and tackles Walter Nolen III and Darius Robinson. In the secondary is safety Budda Baker, who led the Cardinals with 120 tackles last season. Along with him is Dadrion Taylor-Demerson (two interceptions) and Andrew Wingard (84 tackles with Jacksonville) and the cornerbacks are Will Johnson and Denzel Burke, who had three picks last season. The Cardinals totaled ten interceptions and had 30 sacks while giving up 28.7 points per game on defense and were gouged for 40-plus points by opponents four times.

2026 SEASON OUTLOOK - The Cardinals have a new head coach this year as Mike LaFleur takes over and will look to get the team back in the right direction after a terrible 3-14 finish last year. Rookie running back Jeremiyah Love is highly touted and the team will give him ample opportunity to get a weak rushing attack (just 93 yards per game in 2025) going again. Having a healthy James Conner will help for sure as he has put up numbers for the Red Birds in the past. Jacoby Brissett played well a year ago and if his wideouts can contribute consistently it would do wonders for the offense. Tight end Trey McBride is among the best in the NFL and a great red zone target. The line has to be better in pass protection as they gave up 59 sacks and were pushed around with the team ranking next to last in rushing yardage. 

Along with the offense, the defense will have to show improvement as well after finishing near the bottom of the league in all major categories. Playing in the NFC West, perhaps the best division in the NFL, puts the Cardinals in an even tougher spot as they face a grueling schedule this season. Six of their first ten games are against teams that made the playoffs a year ago.  An improvement would be doubling the amount of wins this year, but (on paper) that doesn't look likely unless there is a major turnaround on both sides of the football. The Cardinals are looking to build a better foundation for the future and if Love can produce in his rookie season, it will go a long way to getting better balance on offense and showing improvement for this team. If they can get that and the defense shows better results, this team should be better than what happened in the 2025 season. The time is now to make it happen.

OFFENSE - Quarterback Lamar Jackson is ready for his ninth NFL season and he had 2,549 passing yards in 13 games last season along with 21 touchdowns and seven interceptions while also rushing for 349 yards (5.2 YPC) and a pair of touchdowns. Tyler Huntley (426 passing yards, two TD) will look to be the main backup again. The top running back is Derrick Henry (1,595 yards, 5.2 YPC, 16 TD) and Justice Hill will look to get back at it after suffering a neck injury a year ago. The wide receivers include Zay Flowers, who led the team with 86 receptions for 1,211 yards and five touchdowns. Along with Flowers are Rashod Bateman, Dayton Wade, Cortez Braham, Jr. (rookie - Memphis) and Devontez Walker. The tight ends are Mark Andrews (48, 422, five TD) and Durham Smythe. 

DEFENSE - Nnamdi Madubuike, John Jenkins and 19-year veteran Calais Campbell (6 1/2 sacks with Arizona) will look to man the front line while Trey Hendrickson (four sacks with Cincinnati last season) is the edge rusher/linebacker along with Roquan Smith (130 tackles) and Tavius Robinson, who had 4 1/2 sacks. Nose Tackle Travis Jones (five QB sacks) is on the physically unable to perform list as training camp began along with Teddye Buchanan, who made 85 tackles last year. The defensive backs are Kyle Hamilton (105 tackles) and Malaki Starks (two interceptions) at the safety spots while the cornerbacks are Marlon Humphrey (four INT), Chidobe Awuzie and Nate Wiggins, who had three picks a year ago. The Ravens totaled eleven interceptions and 30 sacks while the defense was 24th overall in the NFL last season. 

2026 SEASON OUTLOOK - After making the playoffs for three straight seasons, the Ravens fell off and missed out on the 2025 post-season and the team let long time Head Coach John Harbaugh go and brought in Jesse Minter, who is widely regarded as defensive guru, to take over as the new head coach this year. 

The Ravens defense slipped badly last season, dropping to 24th overall while finishing 30th against the pass with only 30 quarterback sacks. They were solid against the run, rating in the top ten but they gave up too many big plays and that would eventually cost them a chance to get back to the playoffs. With some new faces on board this year, the team hopes to stay injury free as much as possible and see better results in that area. The offense was up and down as well, but running back Derrick Henry did his part in leading the running attack, which was second in the league. Quarterback Lamar Jackson saw his numbers drop and will look to get the passing game going once again and the main target is wide receiver Zay Flowers, who signed a huge contract extension in the off-season. Some younger wideouts and tight end Mark Andrews are also in the fold. 

The hope is for the offense to have more balance and as long as Henry stays on the field doing his thing and Jackson and company can do their part with the passing game, this team should be right there at seasons end. The AFC North has the reigning division champion Pittsburgh Steelers as well as the Cincinnati Bengals, who are looking to improve to their porous defense and also the Cleveland Browns, who always play solid defense. The Ravens can win this division if things click for them, but they are counting on Jackson getting back to form as well as the defense. The final four weeks of the season should determine how the Ravens fare as they are all division games, including two against the Steelers. A playoff appearance could likely happen and how much success they have in January will depend on the defense showing up and Jackson getting back to his old form on the field.

OFFENSE - Quarterback Jalen Hurts is entering his seventh NFL season and he passed for 3,224 yards with 25 touchdowns and six interceptions last year. Hurts also rushed for 421 yards (4.0 YPC) and scored eight touchdowns. Veteran journeyman QB Andy Dalton is in training camp this year and will look to be the primary backup. After a record setting year for running back Saquon Barkley in 2024, the top runner in Philly saw his production drop off in 2025 with 1,140 rushing yards (4.1 YPC) and seven touchdowns. Tank Bigsby (356 yards, 5.7 YPC, two TD) will get some carries as well. The wide receivers are led by DeVonta Smith, who had 77 receptions for 1,008 yards and four touchdowns. Along with Smith, Marquise Brown comes over from Kansas City, where he had 49 receptions for 587 yards and five touchdowns. Dontayvian Wicks, Elijah Moore and rookie Makai Lemon (USC) will look to contribute. Tight End Dallas Goedert (60, 591, 11 TD) is back for his ninth season and was a big time red zone target for the Eagles last season. Rookie tight end Eli Stowers (Vanderbilt) will get his chances in the game plan this year. 

DEFENSE - Defensive tackle Jalen Carter anchors the front line and is looking to bounce back after injuries limited him to ten games a year ago. Along with Carter on the line are Jordan Davis (4 1/2 QB sacks), Jonathan Greenard and Nolan Smith, Jr. as well as Moro Ojomo (six sacks) and Jalyx Hunt, who had 6 1/2 sacks and three interceptions last year. Zack Baun (team high 123 tackles and two interceptions) and Jihaad Campbell lead the linebackers while the secondary features Cooper DeJean (two INT), Riq Woolen and Quinyon Mitchell at the corners with Marcus Epps and Andrew Makuba (two picks) at the safety spots. The Eagles had a plus-6 in turnovers in 2025 as they picked off twelve passes and registered 42 sacks while finishing in the top five in scoring defense. 

2026 SEASON OUTLOOK - After winning the Super Bowl two years ago, the Eagles fell in the wild card round of the NFC playoffs and will look to rebound this season. Head Coach Nick Sirianni has been under fire in recent years, even with two Super Bowl appearances and a Super Bowl title two years ago. The last time the Eagles fell in the first round of the playoffs following a Super Bowl appearance (2022-23), they came back to win the Super Bowl. 

Quarterback Jalen Hurts and running back Saquon Barkley will be under the microscope this season after seeing their numbers drop off. In addition, wide receiver DeVonta Smith will have to step up as he is the main man now that A.J. Brown has been traded away to New England. The Eagles were 19th in scoring last year (22.3 PPG) after ranking seventh in 2024, when they averaged 27 points per game. Moving the chains was a problem last year as the Eagles slipped to 37 percent on third down conversions. That must improve if they want to compete in the always tough NFC playoff race. The defense did a decent job overall a year ago, but did struggle against the run compared to years past. Having the front line stay healthy will help make a difference this season. 

No doubt the talent is there for the Eagles to fly high again in 2026, but they have to maintain consistency and get back to where they were on offense to achieve the goal of getting back to the Super Bowl. If Hurts and the passing game can put up better numbers and Barkley regains his form and stays on the field, the offense should see much improvement, which would take pressure off the defense. The NFC East is tough with Dallas looking to improve and the Washington Commanders also looking to bounce back as well as the up and coming New York Giants. The Eagles can win a third straight division title as long as they play their game and maintain focus on the field. How far they can go from there depends on staying healthy and playing consistently.
