In the National League, the Atlanta Braves and Los Angeles Dodgers both finished with 100 or more wins in the regular season and will have the "byes" while four other teams battle it out in the Wild Card round. The Philadelphia Phillies will host the Miami Marlins and the Milwaukee Brewers will also have the home field edge as they take on the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Over in the American League, the Baltimore Orioles surprised the junior circuit this season and are the top team (at 101-61 record) and the Houston Astros stormed back to snatch the A.L. West division title from the Texas Rangers to get the two-seed and the other bye.
The four wild card teams are the Minnesota Twins (A.L. Central division winners), Tampa Bay Rays, Texas Rangers and Toronto Blue Jays. The Twins will host the Blue Jays and Texas will travel to face the Rays in the other wild card series.
All in all, it should be fun to watch what happens over the next month or so and here's a quick look at the possibilities for all the series and the eventual World Series teams and winner as Heftyinfo makes the post-season predictions.
