NFL Football- Week 13 Previews
Well, here we are heading into December and the final five games of the 2009 NFL season.
This weekend's games should prove to solve a lot as far as playoff spots are concerned in both conferences, or at the very least shake up the standings in both of those conferences.
Three teams seem assured of making the playoffs, barring a complete breakdown in the final five weeks. The Indianapolis Colts and New Orleans Saints are both 11-0 and have huge leads in their divisions. The Minnesota Vikings are 10-1 and enjoy a big lead (plus a sweep over Green Bay in '09) in the NFC North.
The following is a preview for this weekend's games, followed by the heftyinfo picks for Week 13 in the NFL.
New York Jets (5-6) at Buffalo Bills (4-7)- For the Jets, it's now or never as they are 5-6 and desperate for a win to remain in wild card contention in the AFC.
Philadelphia (7-4) at Atlanta (6-5)- Will Falcons' QB Matt Ryan (ankle injury) be ready to go? How about Michael Turner? The Falcons are banged up heading down the stretch and that's not good.
St. Louis (1-10) at Chicago (4-7)- Who would have thunk it... the Bears struggling with Jay Cutler at QB and the defense being shredded week in and week out? The Rams, they just stink.
Detroit (2-9) at Cincinnati (8-3)- You are kidding right? The Lions actually have a chance in this one? Bengals are rolling and Detroit is reeling.
Tennessee (5-6) at Indianapolis (11-0)- They say that all good things must end and one of them will this week as Titans have won five straight and the Colts are unbeaten in '09.
Denver (7-4) at Kansas City (3-8)- The Broncos are back in stride after throttling Giants last week while KC was crushed at San Diego... that means nothing as this rivalry continues at Arrowhead Stadium.
New Orleans (11-0) at Washington (3-8)- The Saints are marching in and all over their opponents in '09... will the Redskins defense be able to keep it close?
Tampa Bay (1-10) at Carolina (4-7)- Who cares?
Houston (5-6) at Jacksonville (6-5)- The Texans can play spoiler to the Jaguars playoff hopes while at the same time helping their own cause for the post-season. This should be a good game.
Oakland (3-8) at Pittsburgh (6-5)- The Super Bowl champs had better win this one (with or without Ben Roethlisberger) or they might just be on the outside looking in come playoff time.
San Diego (8-3) at Cleveland (1-10)- Outside of the three locks for the playoffs already mentioned, the Chargers are the hottest team in the NFL right now as they go for their seventh straight win.
San Francisco (5-6) at Seattle (4-7)- The Seahawks would love to crush any hopes the 49ers have at the post-season this weekend.
New England (7-4) at Miami (5-6)- After last week's debacle in the "Big Easy", the Patriots should rebound and further secure their lead in the AFC East.
Dallas (8-3) at NY Giants (6-5)- Must win for the Giants... as for the Cowboys, it's December boys, are you ready Tony Romo?
Minnesota (10-1) at Arizona (7-4)- The Vikings are riding high and the Cardinals are out to get the bad taste out of their mouths after gagging in the final seconds last week against Vince Young and the Tennessee Titans.
Baltimore (6-5) at Green Bay (7-4)- The Monday Night Football game in Lambeau Field as the Ravens battle for a shot at the playoffs against a team that has won three straight and seems to be rejuvenated.
