NFL - Week Seven Review

Opening Drive - The NFL Game of the Week did actually live up to the billing
as the New York Jets battled the New England Patriots the entire game before falling 30-23 at Gillette Stadium.
Patriots quarterback Tom Brady ran for a touchdown and threw two TD passes along with 355 yards as the Pats only ran the ball nine times in the win.
The victory kept the Patriots unbeaten at 6-0 while the Jets fell to 4-2 in the AFC East race.
The Miami Dolphins continued their resurgence under interim Head Coach Dan Campbell by completely smashing the visiting Houston Texans, 44-26 in a game they led 41-0 at halftime.
Miami running back Lamar Miller ran for 175 yards (14 carries) and scored on a 85-yard run and also hauled in a 54-yard scoring pass from QB Ryan Tannehill, who was superb, going 18-for-19 passing for 282 yards and four touchdowns. The defense scored a touchdown for Miami as well and wide receiver Jarvis Landry had two touchdown receptions.

TOP RUSHERS FOR WEEK SEVEN - Lamar Miller (Miami) 175 yards and two touchdowns (one receiving); Darren McFadden (Dallas) 152 yards and one touchdown; Mark Ingram (New Orleans) 143 yards and one touchdown; Todd Gurley (St. Louis) 128 yards and one touchdown; Doug Martin (Tampa Bay) 136 yards.

TOP PASSERS FOR WEEK SEVEN - Ryan Tannehill (Miami) 282 yards and four touchdowns; Kirk Cousins (Washington) 317 yards and three touchdowns; Tom Brady (New England) 355 yards and two touchdowns; Teddy Bridgewater (Minnesota) 316 yards and two touchdowns; Derek Carr (Oakland) 289 yards and three touchdowns.

News and Notes from the NFL . . .  The Dallas Cowboys were haunted by former player Dwayne Harris who took a kickoff back 100 yards for the winning score in the New York Giants 27-20 win . . . In that same game, Cowboys QB Matt Cassel was intercepted three times, including a "pick six" INT by Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, who had two picks in the game . . .  The Washington Redskins overcame a 24-0 deficit to shock the visiting Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 31-30 as 'Skins QB Kirk Cousins threw the game-winning eight-yard TD pass to tight end Jordan Reed with only 24 seconds to go . . .  Carolina remained unbeaten with a 27-16 win over Philadelphia on Sunday Night Football as QB Cam Newton overcame three interceptions by running for a score while fullback Mike Tolbert scored twice to lead the way . . .  The San Diego Chargers lost to Oakland, 37-29 as the Raiders thoroughly dominated the game, intercepting Chargers QB Philip Rivers twice to salt the game away in the first half, building a 30-6 lead . . . Houston RB Arian Foster was lost for the season with a torn Achilles injury in the Texans loss . . . Across the pond in London, England, Jacksonville held off the Buffalo Bills, 34-31 as they nearly blew a 24-point first half lead. Jaguars QB Blake Bortles had two TD passes and the Jags defense scored twice in the win . . . In the Monday Night Football game, Arizona topped Baltimore, 26-18 as RB Chris Johnson had a big night, going for 122 yards and a rushing touchdown while Cardinals QB Carson Palmer threw for two touchdowns.
