NFL - Week Three Preview

Holding - Offense . . .  Holding - Offense . . .  Holding - Offense

It seems to be the most popular phrase regarding the NFL so far this season.
As Week Three takes place, here is hoping the refs chill out a bit with the penalty flags and let the PLAYERS play the game of football. People don't pay for tickets to games or tune in on the television to watch the "zebras" throw yellow flags and call endless penalties.
Booooooring !
With that out of the way, let's look at some of the games taking place this weekend around the NFL. First thing, the New England Patriots (2-0) released wide receiver Antonio Brown today and they will be hosting the hapless New York Jets (0-2) this Sunday.  Bill Belichick doesn't mess around and with all the controversy and legal allegations surrounding Brown, the Pats said "See Ya!"
Tom Brady and company are rolling early on and should steamroll the Jets this weekend as well. New England has outscored the opposition 76-3 in the first two games this season. Expect more of the same this Sunday afternoon at Gillette Stadium.
The Baltimore Ravens (2-0) travel to face the Kansas City Chiefs (2-0) and this could be a high scoring game given that both quarterbacks have passed for seven touchdowns with zero interceptions in the first two games. Lamar Jackson (Ravens) and Patrick Mahomes (Chiefs) are playing at the top of their game early this season and will likely do so again this Sunday at Arrowhead Stadium.
The New Orleans Saints (1-1) will be without quarterback Drew Brees for at least the next six weeks (thumb injury) and they travel to face the Seattle Seahawks (2-0) and their star quarterback Russell Wilson. This could be a blowout as the 'Hawks have played two surprising squeakers already while the Saints offense looked lost without Brees in their blowout loss against the L.A. Rams last week.
This weekend, those Rams (2-0) will be facing the Cleveland Browns (1-1) in "prime time" on Sunday Night Football in Cleveland.
That's right, the Sunday night prime time game is in Cleveland.
The Rams defense stepped up last week while the Browns did the same in their 23-3 thumping of the Jets on Monday Night Football. Will Jared Goff and company be able to expose the Brownies D this weekend? How about Baker Mayfield and the Cleveland attack going against Aaron Donald and the rest of the Rams defense? This game should be a good one and look for the Rams to pull ahead in the fourth quarter and get the road victory.

The rest of the games are featured ahead in the capsule style previews along with the game predictions as well.

Detroit Lions (1-0-1) at Philadelphia Eagles (1-1) - This game could go down to the wire. The Lions found a way to win last week at home while the Eagles blew one late on the road. Philly is banged up, so the Lions could escape with another win.

N.Y. Jets (0-2) at New England Patriots (2-0) - Blowout city here as the Pats roll up a 40-plus point game against one of the worst teams in the NFL.

Oakland Raiders (1-1) at Minnesota Vikings (1-1) - The Vikings are tough at home and the Raiders not so much on the road as their recent history suggests. Take Minnesota.

Baltimore Ravens (2-0) at Kansas City Chiefs (2-0) - Hard to pick against the Chiefs at home, but if any team can beat K.C. at Arrowhead, this Ravens defense could be the ones to slow down Mahomes and company.

Atlanta Falcons (1-1) at Indianapolis Colts (1-1) - Toss up here.

Denver Broncos (0-2) at Green Bay Packers (2-0) - The Packers defense is looking legit so far and they could shut out the Broncos listless offense.

Miami Dolphins (0-2) at Dallas Cowboys (2-0) - Cowboys roll !

Cincinnati Bengals (0-2) at Buffalo Bills (2-0) - Bills looking serious about getting back to the playoffs this season. Bengals looked terrible last weekend in home blowout loss against San Francisco.

N.Y. Giants (0-2) at Tampa Bay (1-1) - Where are you Eli Manning?  On the bench as the Giants go with rookie Daniel Jones at starting quarterback. Bucs should win this one at home.

Carolina Panthers (0-2) at Arizona Cardinals (0-1-1) - Quarterback Cam Newton is still looking like he's not himself (injuries) and the Cards have rookie QB Kyler Murray on their side. Take Big Red in this one.

Pittsburgh Steelers (0-2) at San Francisco 49ers (2-0) - Will the Steelers (who are without injured QB Ben Roethlisberger for the remainder of the season) start out 0-3?  Most likely because the 49ers are kicking ass and taking names so far this season.

New Orleans Saints (1-1) at Seattle Seahawks (2-0) - The Seahawks should roll in this one, but the Saints would like to prove the doubters wrong.

Houston Texans (1-1) at L.A. Chargers (1-1) - Chargers laid an egg in the second half and let one get away last week in Detroit while the Texans were very lucky to win at home. Take the 'Bolts in a close game.

L.A. Rams (2-0) at Cleveland Browns (1-1) - The Sunday night game in Cleveland. Two good young quarterbacks. Jared Goff is the better QB however and that will be the difference in this one.

Chicago Bears (1-1) at Washington Redskins (0-2) - The Bears were extremely lucky to get the last second win on the road last week. The Redskins defense has been terrible so far in 2019, so maybe the Bears offense can score more than 16 points in this one.
