The Georgia Bulldogs scored 20 points in the fourth quarter and the defense sealed the deal with a 79-yard interception return for touchdown to defeat the Alabama Crimson Tide, 33-18 and win the CFP National Championship on Monday night in Indianapolis.
Alabama came in as the top rated team and were the defending national champions, but when Kelee Ringo intercepted 'Bama quarterback Bryce Young and returned it 79 yards for the clinching touchdown, that gave Georgia a 33-18 lead with under a minute to play and the Bulldogs were the champions.
It was the first football championship title for Georgia since the 1980 season.
