Defensive Rank in 2021 - 1st (273 YPG); Scoring - 1st (17.0 PPG)

The Buffalo Bills have Josh Allen at quarterback and he passed for 4,407 yards last season with 36 touchdowns and 15 interceptions while also rushing for 763 yards (6.3 YPC average) and six touchdowns. Devin Singletary (870 rush yards, 4.6 YPC and seven TD) is the top running back while Zack Moss (345 yards, four TD), Duke Johnson and rookie James Cook (Georgia) will be in tow. Wide receiver Stefon Diggs (103 receptions, 1,225 yards and ten TD) is the main target while newcomer Jamison Crowder (51, 447, two TD), Gabriel Davis and tight ends Dawson Knox (49, 587, nine TD) and O.J. Howard will get numerous chances to help the air attack.

The Bills defense was the top ranked unit in the NFL a year ago and now Von Miller (coming over from L.A. Rams) is up front at the rush end/linebacker spot, teaming with Ed Oliver (five QB sacks) and Greg Rousseau (four sacks). Linebacker Tremaine Edwards led the team with 108 tackles and the secondary boasts corner Tre'Davious White along with safeties Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyer, who each picked off five passes last season. Rookie draft pick Kaiir Elam (Florida) could be a starter as well.

Outlook for 2022 season - The Bills finished 11-6 last year and then lost a heart breaker in the divisional round of the playoffs against the Kansas City Chiefs. Allen really showed his stuff at quarterback and Head Coach Sean McDermott knows this team can make more strides in 2022 and possibly get to the Super Bowl.

The defense is solid and led the league in total defense and also allowed the lowest amount of points scored. They also get after the opposing quarterback (42 sacks) and picked off 19 passes a year ago. As long as the offense continues to hum along and the Bills can avoid the injury bug, the sky is the limit.

However, the first seven games on the schedule is a killer and if the Bills come out of that with at least four or five wins, they should be on their way to a big season. The Miami Dolphins and New England Patriots will not just lay down in the AFC East division race, so Buffalo knows what lies ahead as they look to get back to the Super Bowl for the first time in 29 years.
