NFL - Week Four Review

The only undefeated team in the NFL after four weeks is the Kansas City Chiefs?
No kidding.
The Chiefs are 3-0 following their bye week and the lone unbeaten team remaining after the Steelers lost a tough one at home in the closing seconds, 17-14 to the Baltimore Ravens. The Chicago Bears were blasted by the New York Giants, 17-3 as quarterback Jay Cutler was sacked NINE times in the first half. Cutler was knocked out of the game with a concussion as New York's defense tallied 10 sacks in the win.
There are still four winless teams as Detroit, Carolina, Buffalo and San Francisco lost once again. The Cleveland Browns earned their first win in 2010 with a 23-20 home win against Cincinnati.
After four weeks in the NFL, the division races are beginning to heat up as many teams are 2-2 and there is no real dominant team looming large this season.
Jacksonville (2-2) surprised the Indianapolis Colts, 31-28 on Josh Scobee's 59-yard field goal as time expired. The Colts, which started 14-0 a year ago, are 2-2 following the loss... The Houston Texans took over sole possession of first place in the AFC South with a 31-24 win at Oakland as running back Arian Foster, who was benched at the start of the game by Head Coach Gary Kubiak for tardiness of a team meeting, rushed for 131 yards, including a 74-yard TD run to pace the Texans' offense which totaled 249 yards on the ground...
Atlanta survived a scare at home when kicker Matt Bryant boomed a 43-yard field goal to win 16-14 against San Francisco. The win enabled the Falcons to remain tied for first place with New Orleans in the NFC South... The Saints also survived a similar fate against Carolina, winning 16-14 behind three field goals by 46-year old John Carney, who booted field goals from 32 yards (twice) and the game winner from 25 yards out in the final four minutes...
Green Bay looked dominant in the early stages of the game against Detroit, but had to hang on for a 28-26 win at Lambeau Field. Packers QB Aaron Rodgers threw for a pair of touchdowns and Charles Woodson ran an interception back 48 yards to provide the difference for the Pack... St. Louis is tied for first place in the NFC West with Arizona and Seattle (2-2) after winning their second straight game as they toppled the Seahawks, 20-3 behind solid defense and rookie QB Sam Bradford, who threw two touchdown passes and had 289 yards through the air...
Speaking of Arizona, they were completely dominated by the host San Diego Chargers, 41-10 as the San Diego defense sacked Arizona quarterbacks nine times in the game, including four by linebacker Shaun Phillips, the Heftyinfo NFL Player of the Week. Phillips totaled the four sacks and also returned an interception 31 yards for a touchdown. The Chargers improved to 2-2 with the win and lead the NFL in total offense and defense in the first four weeks...
LaDainian Tomlinson had his best game in nearly two years as he rushed for 133 yards and scored two touchdowns in the New York Jets 38-14 thrashing of the host Buffalo Bills... Donovan McNabb emerged victorious in his return to Philadelphia as the Washington Redskins beat the Eagles, 17-12. McNabb had a TD pass and the Redskins defense knocked Eagles' QB Michael Vick out of the game in the first half and then held Kevin Kolb and the Eagles in check the rest of the way for the win...
Denver surprised the Tennessee Titans with a 26-20 road win as QB Kyle Orton threw for 341 yards and had two touchdown strikes as well. Orton (pictured upper right) leads the NFL is passing yardage through the first four weeks of the season.
The Monday Night Football Game saw the New England Patriots rout the host Miami Dolphins, 41-14 as Brandon Tate took the second half kickoff back for a touchdown and before they knew what happened, the Patriots were ahead for good. New England scored touchdowns six different ways and rolled to the win to remain tied for first place with the New York Jets in the AFC East.
