Shame On America

It seems these times we are living in here in the United States of America are some of the most INOPPORTUNE times since the Gilded Age of the 19th century when the "mega rich" and robber barons ruled the land.
America, for some bizarre reason, has chosen to go back down that path in recent years (35 to 40 years now it seems) as the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.
Unions (of which I am a member of in the private sector) have been vilified by the power brokers who pull the strings on our nation's political leaders as well as by the corporate controlled media.
There was a time in this country when the Republican party (yes the Republican party) actually backed unions, but that was long ago in the 1950's when Dwight D. Eisenhower was the President of the United States. With this new greedy brand of republican, the party has gone extreme right and is bought and owned by the Koch brothers and others of their ilk and mind set.
Get rid of the Middle Class is their ultimate goal.
It seems these people are hell bent on returning our once great country back to the Gilded Age of the 19th century. Maybe I'm over reacting, but I do not think so. Even television commercials appear to echo this sentiment as there are now ads popping up showing an 1880's type setting with people dressed in garb from that era.
Strange but true.
Advertising is subliminal as we all know. Influence the younger generation and condition them to accept "the new normal," meaning low or stagnated wages and the fact that political leaders are now mini dictators of sort (in their own minds) rather than trusted public servants.
The only way for this to change is for people to get active and stay that way. Contact politicians directly and do not let up on them. Let them know you are aware they are under corporate influence and bought and paid for by "big money" from the special interests and political pacts that seek to endear the corporations and screw the regular people.
Add to all this the insane decision by the John Roberts led United States Supreme Court decision of 2010 that corporations are people and money is considered to be a form of "free speech" and the perfect storm has been created.
It was called "Citizens United" when rendered by the SCOTUS, but it should actually be called CORPORATIONS UNITED because that is who benefits from it. Corporations get the benefits of this decision, not the people of the United States.
Now comes word as well that President Barack Obama is a staunch backer of the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP) which would further enhance corporate influence and give the moguls even MORE POWER over political leaders and the citizens of the United States as it would over rule any of our nations laws regarding regulations and possibly even wages earned by we the people right here in America.
In short, it is NAFTA ON STEROIDS!
Sickening is what that is. The people of this country have been beat down and practically forced to accept this crap over the last 30 to 40 years and most of it started with "Reaganomics" back in the early to middle 1980's when the late Ronald Reagan was president.
Slow but sure, it has gained momentum and former president Bill Clinton didn't help things for the average person in this country when he signed NAFTA, which was rammed through the republican led U.S. Congress in the 1990's.
Even worse, the media in our country sucks nowadays due to the corporate influence looming large over it as thanks to another signing of legislation by Bill Clinton in 1996, which had it's roots in 1987 when Reagan declared the Fairness Doctrine null and void. As a direct result of this, the FOX broadcast network was launched and roughly eight years later, Rupert Murdoch launched FOX "News" and we all know what has transpired with the fourth estate since that time.
Lies!
The American people are also to blame in all of this as so many people, young and old alike, have become complacent and allowed themselves to be manipulated by these forces.
True, many people today have to work two or more jobs just to make ends meet and therefore do not have time to be engaged in political decisions that influence their lives. But, one can do some research and not just be spoon fed information by the media or power moguls and believe such as gospel when it comes to politics.
Think for yourself for crying out loud and do not let the extremists tell you how things should be.
"The Way Things Ought To Be" is the name of a book published in the early 1990's by none other than Rush Limbaugh, the extreme right wing blow hard who has influenced so many other radio broadcasters following in his foot steps.
Shame on America!
Shame for what has happened to this once great country of ours. Shame on the political leaders for not having the fortitude to tell the big money interests to go jam it where the sun don't shine when it comes to buying their influence.
Shame on the news media in the United States for being compliant in the whole process and then just doing what their corporate bosses tell them to do, which is misinforming the American people.
Shame on the American people as well for not paying attention and thinking "Oh well, that's just the way things are these days."
Do something about it ... get informed and stay informed. Get involved and stay involved. Go out and VOTE not just in presidential elections, but in ALL ELECTIONS. They have impact on your life whether you realize it or not.
It's time to take America back from these greedy bastards and their ill intentions for the United States all for the benefit of their own bank accounts.
Corporate greed is killing this country slow but sure and that has been escalated in recent times and continues to be ratcheted up right now and will be in the future as well unless people take action and demand a different course.
If actions are not taken, expect more of the same, only worse as the screws are tightened.
It's up to you the American people to make it happen.
