NFL - Week Sixteen Preview

Merry Christmas!

The NFL has a game on tap tonight (Christmas Eve) as the San Diego Chargers face the Oakland Raiders and then on Saturday night, the Philadelphia Eagles host the Washington Redskins in a crucial battle in  the NFC East race.
The Redskins are 7-7 and in first place while the Eagles and New York Giants (both 6-8) are just one game back with two weeks left in the regular season.
The New York Jets (9-5) play host to the New England Patriots (12-2) this Sunday and both teams need the win. The Jets are in a three-way battle with the Pittsburgh Steelers and Kansas City Chiefs for the final two wild card playoff spots. The Patriots want to have the "home field" advantage throughout the AFC playoffs.
The Green Bay Packers play at the Arizona Cardinals as both teams jockey for seeding position in the NFC playoff picture. The Cardinals clinched the NFC West last week and the Packers can clinch the NFC North with a win and a Vikings loss in the Sunday night game (in Minnesota) against the New York Giants.
The Monday night game between the Cincinnati Bengals and Denver Broncos (in Denver) is huge as the winner of this game will all but be assured of a first round bye for the AFC playoffs.

The rest of the action is also featured in capsule style previews with the Heftyinfo predictions following up.

San Diego (4-10) at Oakland (6-8) - It's Christmas Eve in the "Black Hole" . . . expect a nail biter in this one.

NY Giants (6-8) at Minnesota (9-5) - This is the SNF game and both teams need a win . . . should be a good one.

Jacksonville (5-9) at New Orleans (5-9) - The Jags could spring a surprise on the Saints, who have struggled at home this season.

New England (12-2) at NY Jets (9-5) - Big game for both teams . . .  take the Patriots.

Chicago (5-9) at Tampa Bay (6-8) - Bucs Coach Lovie Smith would love to lower the boom on his former team.
