NFL - Week Twelve Preview

The tradition of the Thanksgiving Day football games continues with three games scheduled once again this year.
The first game features the Minnesota Vikings playing at the Detroit Lions. The Los Angeles Chargers travel to face the Dallas Cowboys and the night cap will be the Washington Redskins playing host to the New York Giants.
Two of these three games have important implications as far as possible playoff positioning is concerned. Washington (4-6) and the New York Giants (2-8) are very unlikely to make the post-season in the NFC chase.
The Chargers (4-6) just dismantled the Buffalo Bills, 54-24 last week and their defense is on a roll as far as quarterback sacks and turnovers are concerned. They had five interceptions in the first half of their rout of the Bills. Meanwhile, the Dallas Cowboys (5-5) have struggled without All-Pro players Ezekiel Elliott (running back) and (offensive left tackle) Tyron Smith.
The early game in Detroit features NFC North rivals Minnesota Vikings and the Lions, who have won three games in a row following a three-game losing streak. The Vikes (8-2) have won six straight games and blew up the Los Angeles Rams, 24-7 last weekend. In addition, Minnesota plays strong defense and ranks fourth in the league in points allowed.
One other key game this weekend will feature the Rams (7-3) hosting the New Orleans Saints (8-2), who are perhaps THE hottest team going in the NFL, riding an eight game winning streak.
The Saints offense came alive in the final three minutes of regulation in a 34-31 OT win against Washington last week, scoring 15 points to force the overtime session before kicker Wil Lutz ended it with the game winning field goal.
The Rams looked terrible in their loss to the Minnesota Vikings and need this one to get back into the fold in the NFC race and maintain their slim one-game lead over the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC West division.
The rest of the NFL action is in the capsule style preview form, followed by the Heftyinfo predictions for Week Twelve.

Happy Thanksgiving !

Tampa Bay (4-6) at Atlanta (6-4) -  The Falcons are looking better in the past few games while the Bucs have been listless all season long.

Cleveland (0-10) at Cincinnati (4-6) - The Bengals should win this game, but they can be their own worst enemy at times.

Tennessee (6-4) at Indianapolis (3-7) - Titans need to win to keep pace with the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Colts could be just the tonic.

Buffalo (5-5) at Kansas City (6-4) - Two teams that have been struggling going at it. Take the Chiefs, but only because they are at home for this one.

Miami (4-6) at New England (8-2) - Patriots roll BIG TIME in this one.

Carolina (7-3) at NY Jets (4-6) - The Panthers have been improving week to week and the Jets are in need of having to win out to be a playoff team.

Chicago (3-7) at Philadelphia (9-1) - Eagles soaring high and mighty above the entire NFL. Bears have lost two straight close games. Take the Eagles.

Seattle (6-4) at San Francisco (1-9) - The Seahawks famed "Legion of Boom" is banged up and that could mean trouble again. 49ers have nothing to lose. Beware!

Jacksonville (7-3) at Arizona (4-6) - The Cardinals are pretty much done in the NFC playoff chase. The Jaguars haven't seen this much success in ten years.

Denver (3-7) at Oakland (4-6) - The Raiders should win this one, but they have not been that good since their 2-0 start. Broncos have dropped six straight games.

Green Bay (5-5) at Pittsburgh (8-2) - The Sunday night game and the networks are reeling that Packers QB Aaron Rodgers is out with injuries for this one. "Big Ben" and company roll.

Houston (4-6) at Baltimore (5-5) - Ravens should win this game, but they have been so inconsistent this season.
