MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL - Post-Season Preview and Predicitons

The Major League Baseball post-season gets started this weekend and this time around there will be four Wild Card series (not just one single elimination game as in the past) going on with the top two teams in each league getting the bye in the opening action. The Wild Card series is a best of three with the team ranked higher hosting all necessary games.

The Houston Astros (top seed) and the New York Yankees earned the first round byes in the American League while the Los Angeles Dodgers (best record in MLB in the 2022 season) and Atlanta Braves get the bye in the National League.

This will be an interesting and (hopefully) exciting playoffs this October with the World Series going into early November. The opening rounds and then the divisional series and league championship series will be predicted along with the World Series.

So here goes nothing as Heftyinfo previews the Wild Card rounds and forecasts the rest of the post-season.

AMERICAN LEAGUE

Wild Card Round -  (Tampa Bay over Cleveland in three games) - The Rays limped home at the end of the regular season, but they have a lot of playoff experience. The Guardians have been on a magic carpet ride this season.

(Toronto over Seattle in two games) - The Blue Jays have a potent lineup and just enough pitching to be able to handle the Mariners, who are making the first post-season appearance for the franchise in 21 years.

Divisional Series - New York Yankees over Tampa Bay in four games; Houston over Toronto in five games.

ALCS - Houston over New York Yankees in six games.

NATIONAL LEAGUE

Wild Card Round - (St. Louis over Philadelphia in two games) - The Cardinals are loaded and should be able to get past the Phillies.

(New York Mets over San Diego in three games) - The Mets have better pitching than the Padres and that will be the difference in this series.

Divisional Series - Atlanta over St. Louis in five games; Los Angeles Dodgers over New York Mets in five games.

NLCS - Los Angeles Dodgers over Atlanta in six games.

WORLD SERIES

Los Angeles Dodgers over Houston Astros in five games.
