OUTLOOK FOR 2024 - The fate of the New York Jets 2024 season rests with quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Last season, he was injured after just four plays in the opening game and missed the entire season with an Achilles injury. Jets Head Coach Robert Saleh and "Jets Nation" want to see what can happen with a healthy Rodgers on the playing field.

Along with Rodgers, the Jets offense will include wide receiver Garrett Wilson and running back Breece Hall, who is an explosive runner and also a very adept receiver out of the backfield. Tight End Tyler Conklin is another go to target for Rodgers. Often injured WR Mike Williams is in camp after the L.A. Chargers didn't keep him. When healthy, Williams is a big target and would add to the Jets passing game.

The Jets defense is among the best in pro football, ranking third overall a year ago (292 YPG allowed) and also was second best against the pass, allowing 168 yards per game. The run defense struggled, giving up 124 YPG (25th in NFL), but the unit only allowed 20.9 PPG, which ranked 12th overall. DE Haason Reddick comes over from the Philadelphia Eagles and had 11 sacks last season. The Jets accumulated 48 QB takedowns last year and had 17 interceptions. The Jets secondary features corner Sauce Gardner along with D.J. Reed and safeties Chuck Clark and Ashtyn Davis and they can consistently shut down opposing passing games.

The big question this season is whether Rodgers has still got it (coming off a major injury) and can instill confidence into an offense that was 31st in the league last year, averaging just 269 yards per game and scoring only 15.8 PPG, which was 29th overall. Better pass protection is a must (Jets gave up 64 sacks in 2023) and they were also dead last in 3rd down efficiency. With Rodgers around and playing to his abilities, this team should thrive and be competitive in the AFC East, where Buffalo and Miami are expected to make another run to the playoffs. The Jets could be a playoff team in 2024, but it's all about Aaron Rodgers showing up and showing out for that to be possible.
