Green Bay Packers - 2017 NFL Season Preview

GREEN BAY PACKERS

2016 Record -  10-6-0

Head Coach -  Mike McCarthy

Offensive Rank8th  (369 yards per game, 27 points per game)

Defensive Rank22nd  (364 yards allowed per game, 24.3 points allowed per game)

Aaron Rodgers is possibly the NFL's top quarterback and he passed for 4,428 yards with 40 touchdowns and only seven interceptions last season. The running backs include Ty Montgomery (457 yards, three TD) and rookies Jamaal Williams (BYU) and Aaron Jones (UTEP).
The wide receiving corps has Jordy Nelson (97 receptions, 1,257 yards and 14 TD), Davante Adams (75, 997, 12 TD) and Randall Cobb (60, 610, four TD) along with new tight ends Martellus Bennett (55, 701, seven TD with Patriots) and Lance Kendricks (50, 499, two TD with Rams).
The defense is led by linebacker Clay Matthews (five QB sacks) and Nick Perry (11 sacks). Secondary playmakers include safeties Ha Ha Clinton-Dix (five interceptions) and Morgan Burnett. Damarious Randall (three INT) will play cornerback and rookie Kevin King (Washington) could start at the other corner spot.

OUTLOOK FOR 2017 -  With Aaron Rodgers in action, the Packers always have a shot at reaching the Super Bowl and this year should be no different.
Head Coach Mike McCarthy knows the defense can make plays (25 takeaways last year, including 17 interceptions) but they need more consistency as they allowed 24 points per game and were lit up by the Atlanta Falcons, 44-21 in the NFC Championship Game.
The Packers should win the NFC North division again and could make another deep playoff run, but they want to get back to (and win) the Super Bowl for the first time in seven years. There's a good chance that could happen with all the weapons they have on offense and the opportunistic defense they can play from time to time. A 12-4 finish would be no surprise as they look to get back to having another chance of winning another Super Bowl title.
