NFL - Week One Review

Baker Mayfield and the Browns were routed by the Titans in the season opener.
The Tennessee Titans served notice that the Cleveland Browns are not who many people thought they were. The Titans went into Cleveland and dismantled the Browns, 43-13 as their defense intercepted Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield three times (including a pick six INT by Malcolm Butler) as the game was blown open in the second half.
The Titans defense also had five sacks, with 2 1/2 of those by veteran Cameron Wake, including one for a safety. Titans QB Marcus Mariota had three TD passes in the blowout win.
The Baltimore Ravens crushed the host Miami Dolphins, 59-10 as QB Lamar Jackson, the Heftyinfo NFL Player of the Week, threw five touchdown passes along with 324 yards passing. Two of the TD passes went to rookie wide receiver Marquise Brown, who had four catches for 147 yards. The Ravens piled up 643 yards in total offense, including a whopping 265 rushing yards in the rout.
The Philadelphia Eagles stormed back from down 17-0 to beat the visiting Washington Redskins, 32-27 as Eagles QB Carson Wentz had three TD passes, including two to WR DeSean Jackson. Redskins QB Case Keenum had three TD passes and 380 passing yards in defeat.
The Los Angeles Chargers blew a 15-point second half lead before winning in overtime, 30-24 against the visiting Indianapolis Colts as running back Austin Ekeler scored his third touchdown of the game on a seven yard run to clinch the win.Chargers QB Philip Rivers passed for 333 yards and three scores while Colts QB Jacoby Brissett had two TD strikes and RB Marlon Mack scored on a 63-yard run while going for 174 rushing yards in defeat.
How about them Cowboys?
Dallas rode four TD passes from QB Dak Prescott (405 passing yards) in a 35-17 win over the visiting New York Giants. Prescott hit four different receivers for the scoring passes while running back Ezekiel Elliott scored a rushing touchdown in the easy win.
The Detroit Lions and Arizona Cardinals played to a 27-27 tie as the Cards came back from 18 points down in the fourth quarter behind rookie QB Kyler Murray (308 passing yards with two TD and one INT), who hooked up with WR Larry Fitzgerald on a four-yard TD pass with only 43 seconds left in regulation. Lions QB Matthew Stafford passed for 385 yards with three touchdowns.
Kansas City beat the host Jacksonville Jaguars, 40-26 as QB Patrick Mahomes threw for three touchdowns, including two to WR Sammy Watkins, who had nine receptions for 198 yards. Meanwhile, Jaguars QB Nick Foles was injured (broken collar bone) in the first quarter and will be out indefinitely. The Chiefs lost star wide receiver Tyreek Hill to a shoulder injury as well. He will be out at least four weeks, possibly longer.

The Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears got things started last Thursday night in Chicago that resulted in a 10-3 win for the Packers. The only TD of the game was an eight-yard pass from QB Aaron Rodgers to tight end Jimmy Graham . . . In the Sunday Night Football game, the New England Patriots steam rolled past the visiting Pittsburgh Steelers, 33-3 as QB Tom Brady (pictured below right) had three TD passes and kicker Stephen Gostkowski made four field goals for the defending Super Bowl
champions . . . The Los Angeles Rams won a squeaker on the road against the Carolina Panthers, 30-27 as they built a 23-13 lead in the third quarter and held off a fourth quarter rally. Rams RB Malcolm Brown had a pair of TD runs in the game as the Rams used a balanced attack (166 rushing yards, 183 passing yards) on offense. Carolina RB Christian McCaffrey(128 rushing yards and 10 receptions for 81 yards) scored two rushing TD in the loss . . .  The Minnesota Vikings coasted at home in a 28-12 trouncing of the Atlanta Falcons. Running back Dalvin Cook (111 rushing yards) scored two rushing touchdowns while the Vikings defense forced three turnovers, including two interceptions . . . The San Francisco 49ers defense picked off three Jameis Winston passes in a 31-17 road win against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, including two for scores (Richard Sherman and Ahkello Witherspoon). The Bucs defense also had a "pick six" against 49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo in a game that had six turnovers . . .  The Seattle Seahawks survived their home opener, 21-20 against the Cincinnati Bengals behind a pair of scores by RB Chris Carson and a pair of TD passes from Russell Wilson. Bengals QB Andy Dalton passed for 418 yards and two TD in the loss . . .  The Buffalo Bills overcame a 16-0 second half deficit on the road as they scored two touchdowns in the fourth quarter (TD run by QB Josh Allen and 38-yard TD pass from Allen to WR John Brown) to post a 17-16 win against the New York Jets . . .  The New Orleans Saints beat the visiting Houston Texans, 30-28 on Monday Night Football as Will Lutz made a 58-yard field goal as time ran out. Saints QB Drew Brees had two TD passes along with 370 passing yards while Texans QB Deshaun Watson threw for 268 yards with three touchdown passes . . .  In the last Monday night game being played in Oakland, the host Raiders knocked off the Denver Broncos, 24-16 behind two rushing scores by rookie Josh Jacobs and a TD pass from Derek Carr to WR Tyrell Williams.
