World Series Goes to the (Red)Birds

The St. Louis Cardinals capped off an improbable comeback and won the 2011 World Series in seven games with a 6-2 victory over the Texas Rangers as David Freese walked off with the Most Valuable Player Award.
It was Freese's heroics in Game Six that allowed the Redbirds to have a shot at winning the title as he drilled a game tying two-run triple in the bottom of the ninth inning. Then Freese delivered a solo home run to win the game, 10-9 in the bottom of the 11th inning.
Game Seven saw Freese smack a two-run double to get things started for the Cardinals as he batted .364 and drove in seven runs during the Series.
Starting pitcher Chris Carpenter, on only three days rest, was the winning pitcher and Allen Craig hit a home run to put his team ahead for good at 3-2 as the Cardinals won their 11th World Series title.
