NFL - Week Three Preview

Who's going to stop Tom Brady and the New England Patriots offensive machine?
Certainly not the Buffalo Bills defense. Or will they?
The Bills haven't defeated the Patriots since a 38-0 shellacking in the 2003 season opener.
That was the year the Patriots really started down the road to the mini dynasty they became throughout the rest of the decade spanning 2000-2009.
So... maybe if the Bills beat the snot out of New England again like they did in September 2003, the Patriots could get on another roll and win back-to-back Super Bowls?
C'mon man!
New England is far and away the better team and should show that on Sunday afternoon in Orchard Park,  the home of the Bills.
Don't expect Brady and the Patriots to continue to soar above the clouds however, because eventually the rest of the league catches up and pretty fast at that.
New England will win this game, but the score won't be as bad as many fearless forecasters are calling for.

NFL legends Vince Lombardi and George S. Halas
Elsewhere this weekend around the NFL, the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers renew the league's oldest rivalry in Soldier Field (man it is great to call it that without some silly corporate tag attached to it) in Chicago.
Last time these teams tangled last January, the Packers won 21-14 to advance to the Super Bowl as Bears' quarterback Jay Cutler huddled in a big coat and winter ski cap on the sidelines with a knee injury.

The surging Detroit Lions travel to Minnesota to take on the Vikings, trying to get to 3-0 for the first time in over 30 years.
Lions' QB Matthew Stafford has stayed in one piece so far this season and the Lions have averaged over 37 points per game in the early going.
Upset alert may be in the offing out west where the New York Jets travel to play the Oakland Raiders in the "Black Hole."
FACT: The Jets have NOT run the ball well, even though they are 2-0 this year.
The run game is their calling card and if they have to rely on Mark Sanchez and the passing game on a continuing basis, forget it... it ain't gonna happen for the Jets.
The San Diego Chargers play host to the Kansas City Chiefs and need to win this one with all the injuries the Chiefs (0-2) have had so far this season.
San Diego's vaunted offense hasn't really clicked yet even though they have piled up the yardage.
The 'Bolts have only scored 45 points through their first two games and the defense was shredded  by New England last week. Turnovers have also been a problem for the Chargers, as QB Philip Rivers has been intercepted four times already in the first two games. That has to change or the Chargers just might lose this game.
The Pittsburgh Steelers roll into Indianapolis on Sunday night and should throttle the hapless Colts (sans Peyton Manning) on national television.
Hall-of-Fame QB Roger Staubach
And finally, the Cowboys and the Redskins renew the annual rivalry on Monday Night Football as Roger Staubach and Joe Theismann go at it (just kidding of course) ...  as Rex Grossman and Tony Romo, punctured lung and all, will battle it out in Dallas.
It should be another exciting weekend around the NFL and when all is said and done this weekend, there will be some 0-3 teams being told their season is already over while the 3-0 teams still around will be further scrutinized by the millions of football analysts around the country.
